Add a little milk to the egg and mix until smooth using a whisk.

Cut the loaf into pieces approximately 1.5 centimeters thick. It is best to use yesterday's loaf so that it is a little weathered.

Dip the loaf pieces into the milk mixture on both sides so that they are well soaked but not soggy.

Pour a little vegetable oil into a hot frying pan and place the wet pieces of loaf. Fry them on one side for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
