There is no need to lubricate the panels with anything - old appliances are already so adapted to baking that they do not need it. In addition, the dough contains a lot of oil, it will prevent the waffles from sticking. Place a tablespoon on the bottom panel and lightly spread the dough onto it. Close the lid.

I prepared waffle rolls for tea, just like in a Soviet waffle iron. I didn’t have soda, so I replaced it with 1 teaspoon of baking powder, sifting it along with the flour. I added 160 grams of flour (premium grade) instead of 140. The dough turned out to be medium thick and beautiful creamy in color. I cooked waffles in a waffle iron for a gas stove over the lowest heat on a large burner. The waffles are easily removed from the mold, do not stick or tear. The waffle rolls turned out wonderful: crispy, rosy, and moderately sweet. The whole family appreciated them. The tea party with these straws was a great success. Thank you very much for the recipe!

I made it with milk and water (50:50) in butter - the waffle rolls turned out very tasty, tender and crispy. I put in 2 times less sugar. The twisting didn't work out very well, but they were amazingly tasty on their own. Now for me this is the best recipe for thin waffles. Thank you very much!
