STEP 1
How to prepare pickled tomatoes in halves with onions and butter for the winter? First, prepare the jars. Rinse the jars with soda solution in advance and sterilize them in any convenient way. Wash the lids, boil and dry. Read about sterilization of jars and other preservation nuances at the end of the recipe under the steps.
STEP 2
Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Select ripe, medium-sized tomatoes; it is better to use varieties with thick skin. Wash the tomatoes thoroughly under running water, drain in a colander and let the water drain completely. Cut the fruits into two halves.
STEP 3
Peel the onions and cut into rings. If the onions are too large, you can cut them into half rings. Peel the garlic cloves from the membranes.
STEP 4
Place peppercorns, a piece of horseradish root, cloves, bay leaves, garlic cloves, several sprigs of washed and dried parsley and dill at the bottom of sterile jars.
STEP 5
Place the tomatoes and onion rings tightly into the jars, alternating them with each other.
STEP 6
Since this salad of tomatoes and onions will not be further sterilized, we will pour boiling water over it. Boil plenty of water; the volume of water per jar depends on how tightly the vegetables are packed. Pour boiling water over the tomatoes in the jars, cover the jars with lids and leave for 15 minutes.
STEP 7
Then pour the water into an enamel pan and put it on fire. The amount of spices is indicated per 1 liter of water. Add sugar and salt to the water and bring to a boil, stirring constantly until the sugar and salt crystals dissolve. Pour in odorless vegetable oil and table vinegar, let the marinade boil again and turn off the heat.
STEP 8
Pour the boiling marinade over the tomatoes in the jars. Close the jars with lids immediately. Turn the jars upside down, cover with a warm blanket or towel and leave overnight at room temperature until completely cooled. Store the workpiece in a cool place. Bon appetit!
