Salad with croutons

Quick, simple, made from ordinary ingredients, very tasty! Salad with croutons is very similar in composition to the famous Caesar, but is prepared with the addition of corn. The dressing is also different - here it is with grainy mustard and honey. The salad turns out to be hearty and can be used as a substitute for a light dinner.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make a salad with croutons? Prepare your food. Any salad will do - regular leaf lettuce, iceberg, I have frisée. Take the fillet from the breast, preferably chilled - it will turn out juicier. Instead of whole tomatoes I used cherry tomatoes

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Start cooking with croutons. How to make croutons? Take two slices of white bread, cut them into medium cubes. Any white bread will do - loaf, baguette, toast, ciabatta.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Preheat the oven to 160°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment and place the bread cubes on it in one row. Drizzle them with a drop of olive oil. Rub some hard cheese on top of the bread.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Bake the croutons for 5-10 minutes until golden brown. Remove the finished croutons and cool.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

While preparing the croutons, fry the chicken. Wash and dry the meat well. Cut the fillet crosswise into small pieces. Salt and sprinkle the chicken with paprika.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Heat odorless vegetable oil in a frying pan over high heat. Place chicken pieces in it. Fry it until golden brown on both sides for 5 minutes. Remove the finished chicken from the pan and cool.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

The next step is to prepare the dressing. Place mayonnaise, mustard and honey in a small bowl. Instead of grain mustard, you can use any mild mustard. The main thing is that it tastes good. Take thinner honey.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Mix the dressing well until smooth. For convenience, I poured the dressing into a tight bag, from which I then cut off the tip.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Cut the cooled chicken into small pieces.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Wash and cut the tomatoes: large into pieces, cherry into halves.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Wash the lettuce leaves and dry well. Take a flat plate. Tear lettuce leaves on it. It is important to do this with your hands, since when cutting with a knife, the greens quickly oxidize and fade. Drizzle half of the dressing over the leaves, squeezing it through the hole in the bag. Place chicken pieces on top.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Add corn and tomatoes to the salad.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Top the salad with bread croutons. Pour the remaining sauce over the salad.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

Grate the hard cheese directly onto the plate using a fine grater. The cheese for this recipe is hard, tasty, and contains no vegetable fats.

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

Serve the salad immediately, as after standing, the croutons will become soggy and stop crisping. Bon appetit!

I made the salad with croutons with a special feeling. The son closed the session and the salad was prepared for this occasion. He really liked the salad, because it had cheese croutons, fried chicken, and sweet corn. And even fresh, juicy tomatoes! I baked croutons for the salad with Maasdam cheese. They turned out very tasty and aromatic, I’ll take note and will make these for first courses. And I marinated the chicken breast in paprika and black pepper for 10 minutes and fried it over high heat. I didn't have grainy mustard for dressing. Therefore, I added a little regular Russian mustard and a pinch of mustard seeds to the mayonnaise. My son likes the way they crunch) By the way, honey gives an interesting, pleasant taste. The salad is very tasty. Thanks for the recipe!
