Rice with turmeric as a side dish
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make rice with turmeric as a side dish? Prepare all products. Choose quality rice. In shape it can be either short-grain rice or long-grain rice at your discretion. Read more about choosing rice in a separate article at the link at the end of the recipe. Choose natural oil with a fat content of at least 82%. I used dried and crushed turmeric, but you can also take fresh turmeric root and grate it.
STEP 2
Rinse the rice well under running water. To make rice fluffy, you need to wash off the starch from it, so rinse it until the water runs clear. For this procedure, it is best to use a sieve.
STEP 3
Prepare the container in which you will cook the rice. Don’t look at how little rice there is, keep in mind that during the cooking process it will almost double in size, so take a larger pan. The article at the link at the end of the recipe will help you with choosing a pan. Pour filtered or bottled water over the rice at the rate that for 1 glass of rice you need to take 2 glasses of water.
STEP 4
Salt the rice. I use coarse sea salt. But you can also use regular table salt.
STEP 5
Place the pan over medium heat and bring to a boil. Foam will form on the surface, be sure to remove it so that the water remains clear. Then reduce the heat to low, cover the pan with a lid and cook for 20 minutes without opening the lid.
STEP 6
This is what the rice looks like after cooking, but there is still a little liquid left in it.
STEP 7
Add turmeric. This powder is quite bright in color and will give the rice a beautiful bright color. Stir the rice vigorously.
STEP 8
Add butter and cover the pan with a lid. When the butter has melted, stir the rice.
STEP 9
This rice is perfect as a side dish for fish, poultry and meat. It can also be used in preparing salads. Bon appetit!
