Potato and cabbage pies fried in a frying pan
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to fry potato pies with cabbage in a frying pan? First prepare the filling. Prepare the necessary ingredients for it. Take refined (odorless) vegetable oil.
STEP 2
Wash the pre-peeled onions and cut into small cubes.
STEP 3
Peel and wash the carrots. Grate the carrots on a coarse grater.
STEP 4
Chop the cabbage into thin strips.
STEP 5
If you are using young cabbage, then first fry the carrots and onions in a frying pan with vegetable oil until half cooked. Then add the prepared cabbage to the vegetables. Elderly cabbage purchased in winter is usually not as juicy and takes longer to cook. In this case, you can stew the vegetables together at once. Cook cabbage over moderate heat, stirring occasionally. While stewing, salt the cabbage and add any spices to taste. Cool the filling.
STEP 6
Prepare potato dough for pies. Pre-wash and peel the potatoes.
STEP 7
Cut the potatoes into pieces and place them in boiling salted water. Cook the potatoes over moderate heat until soft. The potato pieces should be easily pierced with a knife.
STEP 8
Drain all the water from the potatoes. Add a little butter to the boiled potatoes and pound with a potato masher until pureed. Cool the mashed potatoes to room temperature.
STEP 9
Add egg and flour to mashed potatoes.
STEP 10
Mix well until smooth. The dough turns out soft and sticky.
STEP 11
Form the potato dough into a flat cake of the desired size. It is convenient to form cutlets directly on your palm. To make the dough stick to your hands less, you can lubricate your hands with vegetable oil or lightly moisten them with water.
STEP 12
Place the cabbage filling on the dough.
STEP 13
Bring the edges of the dough together and form a pie.
STEP 14
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. Place the pies in a frying pan and fry until golden brown.
STEP 15
Turn the pies over to the other side and fry until golden brown. I made 11 small pies using potato dough.
STEP 16
Serve potato pies with cabbage warm with sour cream, any gravy or sauce to taste. Bon appetit!
