Pork knuckle with cabbage
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to bake pork knuckle with cabbage? Prepare the following ingredients. Cabbage will need half a medium fork. Take medium-sized onions and carrots. I take Russian mustard. Tomatoes in their own juice can be replaced with tomato sauce or tomato paste diluted with water. Pre-soak the pork knuckle in cold water for an hour, then peel the skin with a knife and rinse with cold water. Prepare an oven-safe pan.
STEP 2
Peel the onions and carrots and rinse with running cold water. Cut the onions and carrots into small cubes. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan and fry chopped onions and carrots for several minutes. Read about how to choose the perfect frying pan, as well as how to choose the right vegetable oil in separate articles, links at the end of the recipe.
STEP 3
Remove the outer wilted leaves from the cabbage and cut into strips. Add chopped cabbage, a tablespoon of soy sauce, tomatoes (minus one tablespoon) to the pan, stir and fry everything together for about five minutes, stirring if necessary.
STEP 4
Turn on the oven to preheat to 180 degrees. In a deep bowl, combine a tablespoon of tomatoes, soy sauce, mustard and 2-3 garlic cloves passed through a press. Stir everything until the ingredients are combined.
STEP 5
Place the fried cabbage in a baking dish and distribute evenly over the entire bottom of the dish. Read about how to choose a baking dish in a separate article at the link at the end of the recipe. Make cuts in the knuckle with a knife and stuff it with garlic cloves. Place the knuckle on the cabbage and coat the meat on all sides with the prepared marinade.
STEP 6
Cover the pan tightly with foil and place in a preheated oven for about 2 hours. The exact time depends on your oven. You can learn about the operating features of ovens by reading a separate article, the link is at the end of the recipe. You can check the readiness of the meat by piercing the side with a sharp knife - clear juice will flow out of the finished shank.
STEP 7
Carefully remove the finished shank with cabbage from the oven. Let it cool a little so that it is comfortable to cut it into pieces. This is an independent dish. Serve the meat with cabbage to the table; you can offer boiled potatoes to the company. Bon appetit!
