Pies with apples from phyllo dough in the oven

Fragrant filling and crispy crust, what could be tastier? Having prepared homemade phyllo dough, I decided to try it out. And to be honest, it tasted great (but the appearance was a little disappointing). The pies turned out very tasty, with tender apples and cinnamon inside and a crispy crust on the outside. At first I prepared only 8 pieces for testing. (I was worried that it wouldn’t work out), but after trying the result, I immediately prepared a double or even triple portion :) But to make the task easier for myself, I didn’t cook pies, but rolls, something like strudel. Therefore, if you don’t have time, prepare rolls.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

Ingredients. The amount of ingredients is actually quite approximate, it all depends on your taste: cinnamon, sugar, number of apples.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

To begin, peel the apples and cut them into small cubes, add cinnamon to taste and mix (you can also sprinkle the apples with lemon juice if desired, this will add a little sourness and prevent the apples from darkening).

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Cut the phyllo dough into strips (each strip was about 20 cm long and about 8 cm wide). Brush each strip with melted butter. Place a spoonful of apple filling on the edge of the dough and sprinkle sugar on top.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

We fold the edges of the dough inward, and fold the strip itself (we should have 2-3 layers of dough around the filling) and thus form the pies.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Place them on a baking sheet, brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar on top.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Bake at 190 C until golden brown.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Serve with tea or coffee. Bon appetit!

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

The inside of the pie looks like this. Help yourself!

Yummy! Well, just lick your fingers! My grandmother gave me a similar recipe last fall, and since then I have been preparing small, fragrant pies on a regular basis. The difference in my recipe is that we added apple jam. To prevent it from spreading, my grandmother advised me to add a little flour to it. In general, any filling is good here - apricots or even cherries. The main thing is not to forget about the bones! The aroma is simply divine! Bon appetit!

Irisha, thank you for another interesting idea! Filo dough somehow interested me earlier, I even found a recipe for it on the Internet, but I didn’t dare make it, then I wanted to buy it, but somehow my little hands didn’t get around to it, and then I forgot. But nothing, I think, everything is still ahead! Oh, by the way, Irisha! What is it like, fatty or not very fatty?

MOTHER OF A SWEET TOOTH, if possible, it’s easier to buy the dough))) roll it by hand, oh, how not easy)) but they don’t sell it in my city, alas, but the baked goods from this dough turn out great :) As for whether it’s fatty or not really, I don’t quite understand. If this is about baking from this dough, then no, it’s not at all greasy

Irisha, regarding whether it’s fatty or not, I meant the dough itself. For example, shortbread is a fatty dough, puff pastry also contains quite a lot of fat, but I have never tried phyllo, but from your answer I already realized that it is not fatty. For example, I have one recipe for vertuta, where the dough is rolled out extremely thin , but I don’t really like this dough, because... It's a bit greasy for me. Others eat and are happy.

I love these pies. In Israel they are called burekas. That's where they taught me how to roll them. It's very simple.
