Pie with apple jam
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to bake a pie with apple jam? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Remove the butter from the refrigerator in advance so that it comes to room temperature. First of all, you need to knead the dough. To do this, take warm milk and stir dry yeast in it. The milk should be pleasantly warm, but not scalding, otherwise the yeast in it will die. Read about all the intricacies of working with yeast in a separate article (link at the end of the recipe).
STEP 2
A foamy cap should appear on the yeast mixture. This means the yeast has been activated. If this does not happen, you will have to replace the yeast. Add soft butter, egg, salt and sugar to the yeast mixture.
STEP 3
Sift the flour through a sieve to saturate it with oxygen and begin pouring it into the bowl with the rest of the ingredients, mixing well each time. Depending on the quality of flour, you may need a little more or a little less. You can read more about flour and its properties in a separate article, link at the end of the recipe.
STEP 4
The finished dough should not stick to your hands. Knead the dough well with your hands. Then put it in a warm place, covered with a towel, for about 1 hour. During this time, the dough should increase in volume.
STEP 5
This amount of dough is enough for two pies with a diameter of 22 cm. Cover the bottom of the springform pan with parchment. You can choose the right parchment paper by reading a separate article, the link is at the end of the recipe. Divide the dough into two parts. Cut 1/3 of half the dough for the top of the pie. Roll out the remaining 2/3 of the dough and place it on the bottom of the mold, forming sides. If you don’t have a round mold, you can prepare one pie on a baking sheet at once.
STEP 6
Place apple jam and spread evenly over the entire surface of the dough, not reaching the edge 1-2 cm. Roll out the reserved 1/3 of the dough and cut into strips. Lay these strips over the entire surface of the pie in a mesh pattern, attaching them to the dough along the edges. Turn on the oven to 180 degrees.
STEP 7
Using a brush, brush the top of the pie with beaten egg yolk. Let the pie sit warm for 10-15 minutes, then place it in the oven at 180 degrees for about 30 minutes. The exact time depends on your oven. You can learn about the operating features of ovens by reading a separate article, link at the end of the recipe.
STEP 8
The finished pie will have an appetizing golden color. And the aroma of fresh, homemade baking will spread throughout the kitchen. Remove the cake from the mold and cool slightly. In the same way, bake another pie from the second part of the dough. Enjoy your tea!
