Pearl barley porridge with chicken in a slow cooker
Both a side dish and a second dish at once - saving time and effort! Chicken duet with pearl barley is a very healthy and nutritious dish. The pearl barley porridge turns out boiled and soft, and the chicken is very tender. If you add to this the ease of preparing this dish, you get an irreplaceable recipe for any housewife!

Preparing the ingredients

We wash the pearl barley and soak it in water (preferably overnight)
STEP 3
Cut chicken breast into cubes
STEP 4
Fry in a multicooker on the “Baking” or “Frying” mode for 10 minutes
STEP 5
While the meat is roasting, chop the onions
STEP 6
Three carrots on a coarse grater
STEP 7
Add carrots and onions to the chicken and fry everything together for another 10 minutes
STEP 8
Pour in the pearl barley, pour in enough water to completely cover all the ingredients, add salt and pepper. Mix everything well and set the “Pilaf” mode
STEP 9
At the end of the program, you can let the dish brew in the “warm” mode for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with any herbs and serve

A great recipe to add variety to your home menu! I love porridge, but I rarely cooked pearl barley. As a side dish, seasoned with butter, it’s somehow not interesting... But according to this recipe, the porridge turned out delicious, boiled well and was soaked with chicken and vegetables. But it’s still better to soak pearl barley overnight. This porridge is an alternative to pilaf for those who love tender chicken fillet :)
