How to make pearl barley porridge with water in a slow cooker? Prepare the necessary ingredients for this.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Pearl barley requires a long cooking time. To reduce this time, fill the barley with water and leave overnight. During this time, it will swell with water and cook faster.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

In the morning, rinse the pearl barley several times in cold water. Then place the cereal in a colander to drain excess water.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Place the washed pearl barley into the multicooker bowl. Add butter to it.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Pour water into the bowl and add a little salt. If you plan to use porridge as a side dish, you can add some aromatic spices or dried herbs. Close the multicooker with a lid and turn on the “Grain” mode for 40 minutes. Be guided by your multicooker.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

After the specified time, the multicooker will emit a sound indicating that the dish is ready. Open the lid and stir the porridge. During cooking, the cereal absorbed all the water and increased in size. Place on a plate and serve. This pearl barley porridge can become an independent dish or a side dish for meat or fish. Bon appetit!

I prepared pearl barley porridge with water in a slow cooker and was very pleased. I have already learned how to cook various porridges using this technique, but I have not tried barley yet. I needed porridge with water as a dietary dish. I poured boiling water over the washed cereal, although before, like the author, I always soaked it overnight. After 15-20 minutes, the pearl barley swelled slightly and noticeably brightened. I washed it again and put it in the multicooker bowl. I took a little more water, about half a glass more. Cooked on “porridge” mode for 45 minutes. By the end of cooking, the pearl barley had completely absorbed the liquid. After that, I salted the porridge and seasoned it with oil. The pearl barley porridge turned out to be crumbly and tasty, very filling! The grains are slightly hard, but not raw. That's just how I like it. You can complement this dish with mushrooms and fried onions and you will have a delicious dinner.

I often cook pearl barley, but according to my recipe, I add onions and cheese to it. So, with the advent of new gadgets, such as multicookers, you should try cooking in it. I'll see how the cheese behaves.

Thank you for the recipe for pearl barley porridge with water in a slow cooker! The porridge turned out delicious and crumbly!!! True, there wasn’t enough time in my slow cooker, I added another 15 minutes. From the spices I took “universal seasoning.”
