New Year's gingerbread house with icing

Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1

We will prepare the dough for our future house using the custard method.
STEP 2

Pour water into a saucepan, add sugar, honey and butter.
STEP 3

Heat the mixture to 70 C (since it is difficult to determine this temperature by eye, the most important thing is not to let the mixture boil).
STEP 4

When the mixture heats up, add half the amount of flour and spices.
STEP 5

Stir quickly and thoroughly, because if the flour is not stirred immediately, it will form lumps that will be difficult to stir, but if this suddenly happens, then just use a sieve. Leave the finished dough to cool.
STEP 6

Add eggs one at a time into the cooled mixture, stirring thoroughly after each one.
STEP 7

at the end add cognac (you don’t have to add it).
STEP 8

Now add the remaining flour and knead the dough. It turns out very soft and gentle, it is pleasant to work with it.
STEP 9

We wrap the finished dough in film and put it in the refrigerator to rest for 1 hour. For convenience, divide the chilled dough into 2 parts. We roll out each part and cut out the elements of the house.
STEP 10

If you do not have ready-made cuttings for the house, then use scissors, a ruler and paper or cardboard to cut out the elements of the house. I used the computer and printed out the finished pieces; all I had to do was cut them out. You can cut out openings for doors, windows, or you can draw them for decoration. Bake in a preheated oven at 190C for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown, the main thing is not to overdry, they should remain soft, only after complete cooling they will harden a little over
STEP 11

While our spare parts are cooling, we prepare the icing. To do this, beat the protein until light foam, do not achieve stable peaks, we just need to disrupt the structure of the protein. Add sifted powdered sugar into the whipped egg whites in small portions. Stir well.
STEP 12

After all the powder has been added, add lemon juice and mix thoroughly again. Icing is ready.
STEP 13

Place the icing in a pastry bag with a very thin tip, or you can use a stationery file or a thick bag. Now we turn on our imagination and decorate the walls of the house with intricate patterns, snowflakes, or whatever comes to mind. To glue the walls together, apply icing to the edge of the wall and apply it to the other wall, hold it a little so that the icing sets slightly.
STEP 14

Having built our house, you can make icicles using icing or draw tiles along the edge of the roof. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top and the house is ready. We enjoy the look of the house during the holidays, and then quickly destroy it (my house lasted 4 days, but I’m sure it could last longer, but my family didn’t allow it). Bon appetit!
