  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make pickled pork tongue? Very simple! To begin, prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. You can replace the pork tongue with beef tongue. If you can't find celery root, substitute parsley root, celery stalks, or a dried root mixture.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Rinse your tongue thoroughly. Peel the carrots, celery root and onion. Boil water in a large saucepan. Place pork tongues, onion, carrots, celery root. Add salt. Bring the water to a boil and cook, skimming, for about 1.5 hours until soft. The exact cooking time depends on the size of the tongue and the intensity of the boil. Larger beef tongue takes longer to cook - 2-2.5 hours.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place the finished tongue in a bowl of cold water and leave for 5-7 minutes. Then peel off the skin. Due to temperature changes, the skin can be peeled off quite easily.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Cut the tongue into slices no more than 1 cm thick.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Now prepare the necessary ingredients for the marinade. You can use any vegetable oil - I used aromatic unrefined sunflower oil.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Peel the bell pepper from seeds and stems and cut into small cubes.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Also remove seeds from the chili pepper and chop finely. If you want a spicier marinade, leave the seeds. There are two types of chili peppers: red is more spicy, green is less spicy. If you wish, you can omit the chili peppers at all.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Finely chop the garlic with a knife or pass through a press.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Wash the greens, dry and finely chop. In addition to parsley, you can use any herbs to your taste: dill, basil, cilantro, etc.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

In a bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, vegetable oil and lemon juice.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Add bell pepper, chili pepper, garlic and chopped herbs. Mix everything again.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Place the tongue slices in a bowl and pour in the marinade. Cover the bowl with film and refrigerate for 3-5 hours or overnight.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Place the finished tongue on a plate. Pour over the marinade and serve. Bon appetit!

I really like dishes with pork tongue, and simply boiled tongue is delicious. But I prepared marinated pork tongue for the first time: I was interested in this idea! I cooked with one tongue for testing and, accordingly, took half of all the ingredients. Eh, it’s a pity I only cooked one tongue: it turned out to be a very tasty appetizer. I boiled the tongue, peeled it, cut it into slices, and put it in a container. For the marinade I used half a bell pepper, garlic, soy sauce, honey, vegetable oil, lemon juice. The only thing I didn't use was hot chili pepper. I combined all the ingredients for the marinade, poured it over the tongue and put it in the refrigerator for a day. There are no words for how delicious it is! Many thanks to the author for the great recipe and I recommend it for cooking 😘
