Lenten roll with yeast onion

STEP 1

To prepare an onion roll, take the ingredients according to the list: wheat flour, yeast, water, sugar and salt for the dough, butter, onions and ground black pepper for the filling.
STEP 2

First, prepare the dough: add sugar, salt and yeast to warm water, add a couple of tablespoons of flour and make a dough. Let it bubble, add a little oil. Then gradually add the sifted flour until you get a dough that sticks to your hands.
STEP 3

Place the dough in a larger bowl, cover with film and a towel, place in a warm place for 2 hours. After an hour, beat down and let rise again.
STEP 4

While the dough is rising, prepare the onion filling. Peel several onions - 2-3 large ones, cut into large pieces.
STEP 5

Heat the oil and add the onion, simmer until tender, lightly salt and pepper. Do not boil the onion, it is better when it retains its integrity - after all, it is still baking; let the filling cool.
STEP 6

After 2 hours the dough came up - see how fluffy it is? Wonderful light, airy dough.
STEP 7

Roll out half the dough into a layer, place the onion filling in the middle.
STEP 8

Roll the dough into a roll, pinch the edge tightly, you can cut off the excess.
STEP 9

Grease with sunflower oil (lenten version) or egg and sprinkle with herbs or seeds - I took cumin, I really like its aroma and taste.
STEP 10

Bake the roll by placing it in a cold oven and turning it on at 170 degrees. When it is well browned - after 30-35 minutes - the roll is ready.
STEP 11

Remove the onion roll from the oven, cover it with a towel, and let it rest. That's all! A fluffy, aromatic onion roll at home is ready! Bon appetit!
