Kurnik on margarine in the oven
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make kurnik with margarine in the oven? Start cooking with the dough. How to make the dough? Remove the margarine from the refrigerator in advance so that it becomes soft. Mix eggs, salt, water and margarine. You can do this either with a mixer or with your hands. Then add sifted flour and soda to the resulting mixture. Knead the dough. If the dough is sticky, add more flour; if it is too stiff, add water.
STEP 2
Knead the dough until smooth and homogeneous. With the right consistency, it will stop sticking to your hands. Form the dough into a ball. Wrap it in cling film or a plastic bag. And put the dough in the refrigerator to “rest” for half an hour. During this time, the flour will absorb all the water, as a result of which gluten will develop, which is responsible for elasticity. The dough will become easier to work with.
STEP 3
Prepare the filling. How to make the filling? Wash the chicken fillet, dry it and cut into fairly small pieces. Wash the potatoes, peel them and chop them finely. You can grate it on a coarse grater. Peel the onion and cut into cubes. Mix meat and vegetables. Add salt, spices, dried herbs, use them to taste. Stir. The filling is ready.
STEP 4
Remove the dough from the refrigerator and divide it into two parts. Roll out one part. You can prepare a chicken kurnik of round, square or rectangular shape. I bake round. If you want to make the cake perfectly even, then cut out a circle using a plate or lid.
STEP 5
Line a baking sheet with baking parchment and place the base of the pie onto it. Place the filling on the dough.
STEP 6
Roll out the second circle of dough and cover the filling with it. Pinch the edges. You can make a braid like this.
STEP 7
If you wish, you can decorate the pie with different figures. To do this, roll out small pieces of dough and use a knife to make cuts on them.
STEP 8
To make the cake golden brown, brush it with a mixture of yolk and water using a brush.
STEP 9
Bake the pie in an oven preheated to 180°C for 40-45 minutes. I recommend looking into the oven after half an hour. If the top of the pie becomes very brown during this time, you can cover it with foil. This way the filling will continue to cook and the top won't burn. Remove the finished pie from the oven and cool slightly. I usually cover the baked goods with a towel and let them sit for half an hour. Then I serve. Bon appetit!
