    To prepare Classic Hungarian goulash, cut the beef into cubes or slices. The sizes for this culinary recipe can vary from very small to quite large pieces. The only thing that depends on the size of the meat is the cooking time of this dish. Chop the onion very finely.

    Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan (or saucepan), add the onion and simmer over medium heat until the onion is soft and transparent. If desired, carrots cut into strips or cubes can be stewed together with onions. To make the gravy thicker, add flour to the fried onions before adding meat. Red bell pepper is also added to the frying - unfortunately, I didn’t have it, so it’s not in the photo(

    Set the heat to high and add the chopped meat. Fry with continuous stirring for one or two minutes. Reduce the fire to a minimum. Pour in a glass of boiling water. Simmer covered for approximately 30-40 minutes.

    If you cut the beef into large pieces, the cooking time lasts up to 1 hour. If the water from the goulash evaporates quickly, add a little water. Serve hot with bread.

The recipe is very simple and quick to prepare :). It only took 20 minutes to prepare and add the main ingredients. Everything is done in a slow cooker, but only because there is a convenient bowl - first I fried the ingredients, then poured water into it, added seasonings and simmered for another hour (less could have been). The meat is very tender - my kids chewed it without problems and with pleasure.
