  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

    Ingredients.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Grind the sugar with the eggs (save the white of 1 egg for the glaze). Add honey and stir.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Pour in vegetable oil and warm kefir, stir.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Sift the flour and mix it with the baking soda into the main mixture.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Knead the dough. Flour varies greatly, so sift as needed and add more flour if the dough is too runny. We need to achieve such a consistency that the dough is not too dense (otherwise the gingerbread cookies will turn out hard), but at the same time gathers into a ball, as in the photo.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Sprinkle the table with flour and roll out the dough to the thickness of your finger (1cm - 1.5cm).

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Use a glass to cut out future gingerbread cookies from the dough or use molds.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and grease with oil. Lay out the gingerbread cookies and bake them at 180 degrees for 30 minutes.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

In the meantime, prepare the glaze. Beat the egg whites and gradually add powdered sugar.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

After 30 minutes, take out the gingerbread cookies, cover them with glaze, then put them in the oven for another 10 minutes.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Place the finished gingerbreads out to cool. Bon appetit.

Vera, the gingerbread cookies are just superb! When broken, the dough looks so light and airy! I love recipes where simple ingredients turn out so delicious! The only question is, is honey noticeable in baked goods? And if so, can it be excluded?

Irisha, thank you for your feedback. You can't feel the honey because there is very little of it. But you can exclude it; it is not important in this recipe, since these are not honey gingerbread cookies. The dough inside is soft, and the outside has a crust, as it should be for gingerbread.

Thank you, I don’t really like the honey taste :) I’ll try to make it one of these days, there’s a package of kefir lying idle in the refrigerator

Vera, hello, your gingerbread cookies are incredibly good, I can’t tear myself away. I just baked it, saved it in the CC, I will repeat this pleasure!!! My family and I appreciated it with a bang! Thank you for the easy and inexpensive recipe for delicious homemade gingerbread! By the way, it took me 5 cups of flour to knead and another one to dust the table and rolling pin! Which is not surprising, because flour varies in quality and consistency.
