Fish pie made from puff pastry

Beautiful, appetizing, with a juicy filling, in a hurry! Fish pie made from puff pastry even looks like a fish. Moreover, it is not at all difficult to form such a pie, the dough is ready-made, and not only red fish, but any other fish is suitable. Roasted vegetables add juiciness and flavor to the filling.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make puff pastry fish pie? Prepare your food. You can use either ready-made or home-made dough. Pre-defrost frozen food by transferring it from the freezer to the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. I baked a pie with pink salmon fillet; other fish would also work - trout, salmon, cod, catfish. The recipe is for two pies (from two sheets of dough). I cooked alone.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash and peel the vegetables. Cut the onion into thin feathers, grate the carrots on a coarse grater. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan for frying. Place vegetables on it. Fry them, stirring, over low heat until soft, about 5 minutes. Then cool the roast.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Wash and dry the fillet. Remove the skin by carefully trimming it with a sharp knife. It will be more convenient to do this with slightly frozen fish.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Roll out the defrosted dough on the table into a rectangular layer larger than the size of the fillet. Make the thickness about 5mm.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Place the fish fillet in the middle of the dough. Salt and season it with spices. I used ground black pepper. Place the fried vegetables on the fillet. Also salt them.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Cut the dough into strips on the sides, leaving the top and bottom wide. Wrap the tail fillet in two wide strips, forming the head.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Place thin strips one on top of the other, wrapping the fillet in the middle.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Form a tail from the bottom strip, also placing one on top of the other. Make stripes on the tail. Carefully transfer the pie to a baking sheet lined with parchment.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Beat the yolk with a fork, you can add a little water or milk to it - then it will be easier for them to work. Brush the top of the dough with yolk using a pastry brush.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Bake the pie in the oven preheated to 180°C for 30-40 minutes. The exact time will depend on your oven and the size of the cake. Focus on appearance - the pie should turn golden. Remove the finished red fish puff pastry from the oven, cool slightly and serve.

    Bon appetit!
