English scones

Don't know what to serve for tea? Bake some English muffins! Scones are very tasty English muffins or shortcakes. They are very easy and quick to prepare. The taste is tender, moderately sweet, which does not interfere with eating them with jam or jam. Try it, I hope you like it too!

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

I recently tried this sweet pastry for the first time, which I liked. I am sharing with you a recipe from which you will learn how to bake English scones in a very simple, understandable and affordable way at home. For this we need the products that I indicated in the ingredients.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Prepare the dough. Sift the flour, add cold butter and grind into crumbs. Add baking powder and sugar. If you like them sweeter, you can increase the amount of sugar a little, as they are not very sweet.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

    Mix everything.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add dried fruits (I used raisins, but if you use dried apricots or dates, you will need to chop them first), mix.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Now add cream and milk alternately.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

We knead the dough, but don’t knead it, but do it a little differently. Place the dough on the table, press it down with your hands, fold it in half - press it down, fold it in half again - press it down. Sprinkle the dough with flour on both sides, put it in a bag and put it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Press the cooled dough down a little with your hands or roll it out with a rolling pin (about 3 cm thick) and cut it randomly.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Transfer the pieces to a baking sheet. Lightly beat the egg and brush the scones once, then again after 2 minutes.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Bake in a preheated oven at 200 C for about 20 minutes. Our scones are ready, let them cool a little and serve. Bon appetit!

Irisha, of course, will like it, but how could it be otherwise, it looks like the dough will turn out a little flaky, since it needs to be folded several times, and this is already a big plus, it’s good that it’s not too sweet, you can eat it with sweet tea and butter. and with jam. I liked the recipe very much! Irisha, look at the recipe again, it seems you forgot to write dried fruits...

Shura, I’m very glad that you liked the recipe:) the dough is not quite flaky, it’s more reminiscent of sandy yeast, especially when they’re still warm, there’s a crispy crust on top, and a soft crumbly crumb inside, and the recipe says raisins, although I wrote dried fruits, but after moderation it turned out to be raisins
