  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to cook fluffy rice as a side dish in a saucepan? Prepare all the necessary products. Take cereal from a trusted manufacturer. You can read about how to choose the right rice for a crumbly side dish in the article on the intricacies of choosing rice. The link is at the end of the recipe. Take butter from natural cream, without adding vegetable fats. The fat content of real butter should be at least 82.5%.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Rinse the cereal well and remove excess debris. If you want the rice to be crumbly, you need to rinse it very well to remove the starch from the surface of the rice grains - after all, starch promotes gluing. By the way, the water with which the rice was washed is very useful for watering flowers.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place the rice in the pan. You should choose a pan with a thick bottom, either stainless steel or enameled without chips. You can learn more about choosing a pan from the article. There is a link to it at the end of the recipe.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Fill the rice with water. Proportions: for 1 glass of rice, take 2 exactly the same glasses of water (IMPORTANT!: the ideal proportions are indicated on the packaging of the type of rice you are going to cook. Depending on the variety, the ratio of liquid to grain may vary, so read the instructions on the packaging).

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Salt the water. Rice “takes up” a lot of salt. Therefore, you will have to add a little more salt than regular dishes. But be guided by your own taste and common sense: it is better to add a little salt to already prepared rice than to eat over-salted rice.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir the rice to prevent it from sticking to the pan. Cook, stirring slightly, for 3-5 minutes and immediately after that reduce the heat to low.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

At the minimum heat level, cover the pan with a lid and cook for another 15-25 minutes (this will depend on the type of rice. I cooked for 25 minutes.). It is important to cook at a minimum, otherwise the rice may burn, and if possible, do not open the lid during cooking - this is how the rice is steamed. Then turn off the heat and leave the rice in the pan, covered, for another 15 minutes. Do not open the lid under any circumstances.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

The final touch is oil. Add butter, wait until it melts and mix the rice with butter. For a lean version of the dish, butter can be replaced with any vegetable oil.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Serve delicious fluffy rice as a side dish for fish, meat, and chicken. It can also be used in various salads. Bon appetit!

Excellent tasty rice. My rice is steamed. I wash the rice at least 7-9 times. I kept it in water for a while, then washed it and prepared it according to the recipe. I think that next time I can add a pinch of aromatic herbs to the water for cooking rice. Many thanks to the author for an accessible, detailed description.

Today for lunch I have rice for meat, according to the recipe, fluffy rice as a side dish in a saucepan. I took short-grain rice, Kuban, it has fairly large grains, it cooks quickly and is good for a side dish. I took one glass of rice, washed it, put it in a pan, and poured two glasses of water. Otherwise, the water should cover the rice by two fingers. Added a teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil and cook over medium heat for several minutes, stirring occasionally, until all the liquid has evaporated. Then I put in the butter and left it covered for a while. The cooked rice was very tasty, fluffy and made an excellent side dish for baked ribs.
