Cookies with prunes
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1

Let's prepare shortbread dough. Add chilled butter from the refrigerator, salt and sugar to the sifted flour. Now all this needs to be ground into crumbs. I used a blender, but you can do this by hand. Pour the finished crumbs into a deep bowl, where we will knead the dough.
STEP 2

Beat the egg into the prepared bulk mixture and begin to knead the dough in a bowl with a fork or spoon, transfer the thickened mass to the table and stir. The dough is smooth and easy to work with. Form the dough into a ball, transfer it to a flat dish, cover with cling film and refrigerate for 20 minutes. I put it in the refrigerator.
STEP 3

For convenience, divide the rested dough into two or three parts. First, take one part, roll out the sausage and cut into pieces of the same size. The size of the output cookies will depend on the size of the blanks. I tried to make small pieces so that the cookies would come out small. We do the same with the rest of the dough.
STEP 4

We knead each piece with our hands into a flat cake, put prunes and half a walnut in the middle. I bought nuts in the store already shelled, they came in whole kernels, which I easily split into two parts.
STEP 5

We bend the edges of the cake to the middle and pinch them tightly, forming a bag with an open neck from which a walnut peeks out. The entire dough will yield approximately 22-24 cookies.
STEP 6

To bake the cookies, I used a muffin tray that holds 12 cookies. They were just the right size and very comfortable. You can also use a baking sheet or baking dish that you have in your arsenal. There is no need to lubricate the bottom with anything. Place the cookies in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Temperature 180 degrees.
STEP 7

After 20 minutes, remove the cookies from the oven to brush them with honey. You will need liquid honey and a silicone brush. Brush each cookie with honey and send it back to the oven to bake for another 5-7 minutes. We take out the cookies, empty the molds and bake the next batch. I got two batches.
