Cookies with mayonnaise in the shape of a flower

Delicious, crispy, sandy, for a cozy tea party! Cookies with mayonnaise are made in the form of chrysanthemums through a meat grinder. Nowadays, various ready-made molds are used to make cookies, but with us everything is simple and the old fashioned way.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make Chrysanthemum cookies? Prepare the products according to the list. Take the highest grade, white wheat flour. Instead of store-bought mayonnaise, you can use homemade mayonnaise.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

In a suitable sized container, beat eggs with sugar. There is no need to beat until foamy, peaks form or even change color. Simply stir until smooth.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Add the melted butter to the egg mixture and stir quickly. Add mayonnaise and mix again.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add some of the flour. Add vanilla and baking powder, mix thoroughly. Gradually add all the flour and knead the dough.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

The result is an elastic dough that molds well and does not stick to your hands or the table. Please note that you may need more or less flour than I did. Therefore, be guided by the type and structure of the test.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Set the oven to preheat at 180 degrees. Prepare your meat grinder. Take a piece of dough and press it into the meat grinder hole. Turn the meat grinder until the dough comes out 1-2 cm.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Then pick up the dough strips with your hand, rotate the meat grinder until they come out 5-7 cm, and cut them off with a knife at the base of the meat grinder attachment. You just need to cut close to the meat grinder so that the edge of the next cookie does not stick together.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Now press the cut edge with your fingers so that the cookies do not fall apart.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with oiled parchment. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 15-20 minutes (depend on your oven). The cookies should be golden brown.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

You can make cookies of a different shape. Also turn the meat grinder until the dough comes out to 7 cm.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Then roll the cut edge of the dough into a spiral with your fingers.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

And tuck under the free edge to give the cookies a round shape.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Place on a baking sheet and adjust individual “petals” of chrysanthemums from the dough.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

You can roll the dough 1-2 cm and cut it with a knife, then the shape of the cookies will look more like a disheveled chrysanthemum. Like this.

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

The usual shape of this cookie is described in my first version, I gave the second and third as examples of how it can be designed. Sprinkle the finished cookies with powdered sugar. Bon appetit!

Alishka, I’m not a recipe writer, so I don’t know all the intricacies of adding ingredients. It is clear that the recipe already has a fatty component - butter, and 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, as if “they don’t make a difference”. But I think since mayonnaise is added, it means it fulfills its role in the dough. In addition, sometimes adding an ingredient, even in small quantities, changes the taste and structure of baked goods.

Thank you, Vera, I understand, I just thought the sweet pastries and mayonnaise were unusual. I’ll have to try it.
