Casserole with chicken and mushrooms in the oven
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make casserole with chicken and mushrooms in the oven? Prepare the necessary products. If you use wild mushrooms, they must be thoroughly washed and pre-boiled. Sour cream is suitable for any fat content.
STEP 2
Peel the potatoes and cut into medium pieces. Pour water over the potatoes, bring to a boil, and add salt. Cook the potatoes over moderate heat until tender. The finished potatoes should be soft and easy to pierce with a knife.
STEP 3
Wash the pre-peeled onions and cut into small cubes.
STEP 4
Place washed and peeled champignons on a kitchen towel to absorb excess liquid. Leave for 15-20 minutes so that all the moisture is absorbed into the fabric. It is important to dry the mushrooms well, otherwise, once saturated with moisture, they will become watery. Cut the champignons into cubes.
STEP 5
Drain the boiled potatoes. Mash hot potatoes with added butter. Gradually pour in warm milk and mash the potatoes into a smooth puree.
STEP 6
Cool the mashed potatoes. It should not be hot so that the egg does not curdle. Add the egg and beat it well so that it is evenly distributed throughout the potato mixture.
STEP 7
Wash the chicken fillet and dry well. Cut the fillet into small cubes. You can take chicken meat from the thigh or drumstick, after cutting it off the bones.
STEP 8
Add vegetable oil to the pan. Fry the onions, stirring occasionally until almost soft.
STEP 9
Place the chopped chicken fillet in the pan with the onions. Fry the fillet until cooked, stirring occasionally. While cooking, salt the chicken, add Provençal herbs or any spices to taste, and stir.
STEP 10
Separately, fry the mushrooms in vegetable oil and add a little salt. Fry the mushrooms until the moisture evaporates.
STEP 11
Combine the fried chicken and mushrooms and stir.
STEP 12
Grease a baking dish with butter. Add half of the potato mixture and smooth it out.
STEP 13
Then spread the filling evenly.
STEP 14
Cover the filling with the remaining mashed potatoes and smooth out.
STEP 15
Grate the cheese on a coarse or fine grater. You can take any cheese: hard, processed, mozzarella. Choose as you wish. It is the cheese that will give the main flavor to the filling.
STEP 16
In a suitable sized bowl, beat the egg with sour cream until smooth.
STEP 17
Add cheese to the resulting mass, mix well.
STEP 18
Distribute the filling onto the potato layer and smooth it out.
STEP 19
Place the casserole dish in an oven preheated to 180 C for 25-30 minutes. The cooking time and mode may be different, as they depend on the operating characteristics of a particular oven.
STEP 20
Serve the chicken and mushroom casserole warm. Bon appetit!
