Step-by-step preparation

Cooking timeCooking time: 1 day
  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

To prepare honey cake dough, prepare the necessary ingredients. To keep the cakes soft, use good quality butter. It should not be replaced with margarine or spread.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Melt the butter and honey in a deep saucepan and cool slightly so that the mixture is not hot.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Separately, whisk the sugar and egg. Then add this mixture to the warm butter-honey mixture. Return the pan to the heat and bring everything together to a boil.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add soda to the boiling mixture, mix everything and remove from heat. The mass will increase in volume and foam. This is how it should be - this is the reaction of soda with honey. This mass must be cooled to room temperature.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Add sifted flour to the cooled honey mass and knead the dough. There is no need to add more flour than the specified amount, otherwise the dough will become tough and the finished product will be hard. Cover the dough and refrigerate for an hour. It should get there. And only after that it will be possible to work with him.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

From a sheet (slightly smaller than A4) of paper, cut out the number 4.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Divide the dough into 2-3 parts and roll each into a layer 0.4-0.6 mm thick and cut out the number 4 using a stencil. Bake the cakes in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 4-6 minutes. Cool the finished cakes.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

To prepare the filling, use chilled heavy cream and powdered sugar. But you can use any confiture for the filling, if desired. Or don't use it at all. I will add blackcurrant jam.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

For the cream, whip the cream and powdered sugar into a stable cream.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Place the cream in a pastry bag and, making a cut, pipe the cream over the entire surface of the cake. Then add some marmalade.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

So collect the whole cake. On top of the cake, also pipe cream over the entire surface. Cover the cake airtight and put it in the refrigerator for several hours so that it is well soaked. In a closed container, all the moisture will go into the cakes, thereby soaking them well.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Top the middle of the four with chocolate. You can simply cut out a triangular piece of chocolate, or draw it with melted chocolate.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Then decorate the cake to your liking. You can use fruits, berries or sweets as decoration. Enjoy your treat!
