  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make buckwheat porridge with prunes? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Rinse buckwheat thoroughly. Wash the cereal, changing the water several times until it becomes clear. To reduce cooking time and preserve the maximum of nutrients contained in buckwheat, you can prepare the cereal in advance. Place the washed buckwheat in a bowl or saucepan and cover with hot water, leave for a couple of hours. During this time the cereal will swell well.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Take prunes and wash them well under running water. Place it in a bowl, pour boiling water over it and leave for 15 minutes. If your prunes are not very dry, then just keep them in hot water for about five minutes, otherwise they will soften greatly and lose their shape. Then drain the water and dry the prunes. Cut it into small pieces. Set it aside, we'll come back to it in the next steps.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Take the carrots, wash them with a brush under running water, peel them and grate them on a coarse grater. If desired, you can cut into strips or cubes.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Peel the onions and finely chop with a knife.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan (it is better to use a deep cast-iron frying pan or saucepan). Turn on the heat; when the oil is hot, add the cooked onions and carrots to the pan. Fry the vegetables over medium heat, stirring occasionally with a spatula, until the onion is translucent and the carrots are soft.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Add cooked prunes to the vegetable frying. Stir and keep on fire for about 5 minutes.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Then transfer the swollen buckwheat into a frying pan with vegetables and prunes. The remaining buckwheat water in the bowl can also be poured into a frying pan; it will be needed for stewing. Add spices: salt and ground black pepper to taste. If you wish, you can add your other favorite spices. Stir, cover the pan with a lid and simmer over medium heat for about 10-15 minutes, until the buckwheat porridge is ready, the cereal should become soft.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

If all the liquid has evaporated and the cereal is not yet ready, add a little more clean filtered water. When the porridge is ready, turn off the heat and let it sit covered for about 15 minutes. Serve the dish, optionally with meat and sauce, salad or vegetables. Bon appetit!

I’ve tried rice with prunes, but I haven’t tried buckwheat yet. Thanks for the idea. Another delicious option is buckwheat with vegetables.

I'm preparing buckwheat porridge with prunes. Since the appearance of a multicooker in my kitchen, I cook most dishes in it; cereal dishes must be done only in a multicooker. Today's buckwheat porridge was no exception (but it will of course be very good in a thick-walled frying pan or cauldron over low heat). Immediately in the multicooker bowl, I fried grated carrots and onions in vegetable oil, added coarsely chopped prunes, three minutes later, buckwheat (on the author’s advice, I pre-soaked it for about an hour), salt. Add hot water so that the buckwheat is completely covered with water. The readiness of the dish was determined by the buckwheat. Some people like it thicker, but in our house they prefer it more boiled. It turned out very tasty! For myself, I defined it as an independent dish. For breakfast or dinner - just right! Thanks for the recipe!

I discovered a new taste, everything is very harmonious. I saw the recipe today and decided to cook it right away. True, the buckwheat was already cooked for the side dish, all that remained was to prepare the fruit and vegetable frying. And without much effort, an excellent breakfast is ready! And for lunch it’s the same thing, only with a piece of liver, also a wonderful combination.

Such an interesting combination - buckwheat and prunes. I always made buckwheat with fried onions and carrots. It’s especially tasty and easy to make in a slow cooker. First, frying is done in the multicooker bowl, and then washed buckwheat is added there. Fast and tasty. I’ll definitely try it with prunes, thanks for the wonderful idea
