Step-by-step preparation

Cooking timeCooking time: 40 mins
  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

Prepare wholemeal oats, good quality water, salt, sugar and butter. If you are preparing a lean version of porridge, then take vegetable oil. Depending on what kind of flakes you use - coarse, medium or fine grinding - the cooking time depends (from 2 to 30 minutes). Therefore, before preparing oatmeal, be sure to read the instructions. How to choose oatmeal, read the article at the end of the recipe.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Pour filtered or bottled water into a heavy-bottomed saucepan. The article at the end of the recipe will help you with choosing a pan. Do not use tap water, it will negatively affect the taste of the dish. Depending on the consistency of your oatmeal, you can change the amount of water. The proportions for liquid oatmeal are 1 to 3, if you want viscous porridge - 1 to 2 and for thick oatmeal - 1 to 1.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

When the water boils, add salt, sugar and oatmeal. There should be more salt if the porridge is going to be salty, and vice versa, if the porridge is going to be sweet, then add more sugar. Sugar can be replaced with a sweetener that is not susceptible to heat treatment. You can also put ground cinnamon (about 0.5 teaspoon) and vanilla and nutmeg on the tip of a knife. You should be careful with the dosage of spices; if you overdo it, the taste of the porridge will be spoiled.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Bring the porridge to a boil, stir and simmer over low heat for about 15-30 minutes. Stir the porridge a couple of times, as it will thicken at the bottom and liquid will remain on top. Delicious oatmeal porridge with water - ready! Let it sit under the lid so that the flakes absorb excess moisture and serve.

I wanted a healthy breakfast) The choice fell on oatmeal, of course. In general, I don’t really like rolled oats porridge with water, but it’s healthy) For the porridge, I took medium-sized flakes; it says on the box that you need to cook them for about 10 minutes. I used filtered water to make the porridge taste as good as possible. The proportions of water are exactly as in the recipe. After 7 minutes of cooking, the porridge was ready, I took it off the stove and left it covered for five minutes. After that I already had breakfast, so this is a quick breakfast option) The oatmeal became medium thick, individual flakes were visible. I like this consistency) I flavored the porridge with butter, you can eat any porridge with it, it seems to me) It turned out tasty and satisfying, and most importantly healthy!

Hercules porridge with water is an excellent, healthy breakfast. I prepared the porridge in a ratio of 1 to 2, adding the flakes to boiling water. Reduced the heat and cooked the porridge for about 20 minutes, stirring constantly. Add salt, sugar and butter to taste and sprinkle with steamed raisins when serving. Simple and tasty!

I really love oatmeal. I decided to try cooking it with water instead of milk as usual. It turned out very tasty. As an addition, I added berries to the porridge. Thank you very much for the recipe.
