Buckwheat merchant style in the oven

Of the available products, crumbly, aromatic, satisfying! According to merchants, buckwheat is not cooked in the oven, but simmers under steam with meat and vegetables, as if in a Russian oven. You can also cook it in pots. The porridge turns out rich, saturated with the aroma of spices and seasonings and incredibly tasty!

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make buckwheat the merchant way in the oven? Prepare the necessary ingredients. I used pork butt, but you can make it with any meat, including chicken or turkey. The set of vegetables can also be changed if desired.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Cut the pre-peeled carrots into small cubes. Choose the form of cutting vegetables as desired. But to make the dish look good, it is better to cut it in the same shape and not very finely.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Peel and wash the onions. Cut the onion into medium cubes.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Wash the bell pepper, remove the seeds and stems. Cut the pepper into medium cubes as well.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Wash the tomato and cut it into cubes in the same way.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

    Rinse buckwheat under cold water.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Wash the meat and dry it well. Cut the meat into desired size pieces.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

In a frying pan with vegetable oil, fry the onions and carrots over moderate heat until half cooked, stirring occasionally.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Place chopped bell peppers in the pan. Continue to fry the vegetables for another 1-2 minutes, stirring.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Add tomato to the pan and stir. Simmer the vegetables for 1 minute and transfer to a plate. There is no need to bring the vegetables to full readiness so that they do not overcook during further cooking in the oven.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Add vegetable oil to the pan and heat over medium-high heat. Place pieces of meat in a frying pan and fry on one side until lightly browned.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Turn the pieces of meat over to the other side and fry as well. The meat will be covered with a light crust, which will retain its juiciness.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

In a suitable sized container, combine the fried vegetables, meat and buckwheat. Salt everything, add seasonings and spices, mix.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

I used a ceramic mold for cooking; a heat-resistant glass one would also work. You can make a dish in pots. Place the cereal with vegetables and meat in a mold, pour in warm water so that it completely covers the ingredients.

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

Cover the pan with foil. This will save precious steam, under which the buckwheat will cook. And spices and seasonings will reveal their taste and aroma to the maximum.

  16. STEP 16

    STEP 16

Place the pan in an oven preheated to 180 C for 30-35 minutes. Towards the end of cooking, carefully open the foil. If the water is not completely absorbed into the cereal, continue cooking the dish until the moisture has completely evaporated. Leave the finished buckwheat to simmer in the oven for 10-15 minutes. Cooking times may vary, please take into account the operating characteristics of your oven.

  17. STEP 17

    STEP 17

Place the buckwheat merchant-style into plates and serve. Bon appetit!

I cooked buckwheat in the oven for dinner the merchant way. It turned out so steamed and rich, like straight from a pot! At the same time, the grains are crumbly, one to one. I decided to experiment with pork and marinated it in soy sauce. Meanwhile, I fried onions, carrots, bell peppers and tomatoes. I cut everything into equal cubes. I peeled the skins off the tomatoes, poured boiling water over them, and then dipped them in cold water. The meat was quickly fried until golden brown over high heat. By the way, soy sauce gave the meat a special flavor and softened it well too. By mixing fried vegetables and meat with raw buckwheat, the latter is coated with oil. And this makes it tastier and prevents the grains from sticking together. I baked buckwheat merchant style in a glass dish under a lid until the moisture completely evaporated. This dish is very tasty, juicy and aromatic! The meat turned out soft, and the buckwheat was well soaked in all the juices. My daughter liked carrots the most).

Merchant style buckwheat in the oven - interesting, tasty, satisfying, unusual. A dish for the whole family that can be prepared in a regular kitchen oven. A very satisfying dish, and also with bell pepper! Thank you very much for the recipe!
