Ingredients

Step-by-step preparation

Cooking timeCooking time: 40 mins
  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

The ingredients we need (no, only chocolate, or rather it is there, but it’s not visible, when I took the photo, I didn’t notice something)

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

To begin, beat butter at room temperature with sugar and vanilla sugar (I use vanilla tincture)

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Add 2 eggs, beating thoroughly after each.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Sift the flour with baking powder and add to the butter mixture.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Knead the thick dough. (I kneaded everything with a mixer, and at the very end I switched to a spatula, the poor mixer couldn’t handle it anymore :))

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Now divide the dough into two equal parts. Add half the chopped hazelnuts and melted chocolate to one, knead the chocolate dough.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Add the remaining hazelnuts and zest to the second part.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

These are the two koloboks we get. We divide each kolobok into 2 equal parts, so in total we get 4 koloboks.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Roll each part into a rope

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Take 2 different sausages and put them together. You can simply blind them together, you can braid them.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Bake the finished bars in an oven preheated to 180 C for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Let the bars cool slightly and cut them with a sharp knife into segments about 1.5 cm thick. And dry them in the oven at 160 C for about 10-15 minutes.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Serve the finished croutons to the table, bon appetit!

I was very interested in this recipe, I want to bake these cookies this weekend, but I still have questions that I would like to clarify. What is vanilla tincture, and how is it better than regular vanilla? It’s just that although I bake myself, this is the first time I’ve heard about such an ingredient... The next question is about step No. 5. You write that when the mixer can no longer handle it, you knead the dough with a spatula. I have a question, can you do this with your hands? Or is the dough too sticky so you use a spatula?

Irisha, again amazed us with her baked goods! Such a fantasy! PIE, get ready, I really want to know your opinion. I think you should knead with a spatula because the dough is tight and in order not to break the mixer, Irisha suggests mixing the dough with a spatula, and not because it is sticky.

I’m very glad that you liked the recipe :) Vanilla tincture is a tincture of natural vanilla, I make it myself, I just pour cut vanilla sticks with vodka and leave it to steep for three months) it just turns out to be quite economical, since just vanilla beans are quite expensive, but you can just use vanilla sugar. As for kneading, yes, you can just mix with your hands, especially at the very end, when the additives are already mixed in, the dough is quite dense, so your hands will do just fine
