Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
We will prepare all the products according to the list.
STEP 2
Cover the baking sheet with foil and grease it with vegetable oil.
STEP 3
Now prepare the dough: combine the dry ingredients - sugar, flour, semolina, coconut, chopped walnuts and almonds, baking powder and vanillin, mix.
STEP 4
Separately combine kefir, egg and vegetable oil, mix with a whisk until smooth.
STEP 5
Pour the liquid mixture into the dry mixture.
STEP 6
Knead the dough well with a spoon or whisk.
STEP 7
Pour the thick batter into the prepared baking sheet in an even layer.
STEP 8
Place the kernels of walnuts and almonds on the surface of the dough, preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
STEP 9
Place the baking sheet in the oven for 40-50 minutes.
STEP 10
While the basbousa is baking, prepare the syrup: combine hot water with sugar and lemon juice, stir until the sugar dissolves.
STEP 11
Cook the syrup for 10 minutes over low heat, then remove from the stove.
STEP 12
Remove the pan with the basbousa from the oven and let it cool slightly.
STEP 13
Cut the hot basbousa into small rectangles.
STEP 14
Pour warm lemon syrup over the entire surface of the sliced basbousa. The syrup should completely saturate it.
STEP 15
Leave the prepared basbousa on the baking sheet until it cools completely.
STEP 16
When the basbousa has cooled, transfer it from the baking sheet to a flat dish and serve with tea.
