    How to make pearl barley with meat in pots? Prepare everything you need for this. You can use any meat - pork, beef, chicken or turkey. Choose boneless meat.

    Cut the meat into small pieces. Pour a little vegetable oil into a hot frying pan and add the chopped meat. Fry it until golden brown for 5-7 minutes. Add a little salt and spices to the meat.

    While the meat is roasting, prepare the vegetables. Peel the onions and carrots and rinse them in running water to remove any dirt. Grate the carrots on a coarse grater and finely chop the onion.

    Place the chopped onions and carrots in the frying pan with the meat and stir. Fry everything together for another 5-6 minutes.

    Then add tomato paste and some water to the pan. Warm everything together for a couple of minutes.

    Rinse the pearl barley well several times in cold water. Then place in a dry frying pan and fry, stirring, until golden brown. Why fry pearl barley? This is necessary so that after cooking it is crumbly.

    For baking, you can use small pots or one large one. Place the prepared fried meat in the pot.

    Then add the fried pearl barley. The meat and pearl barley will take up approximately half the pot. Maybe a little more.

    Pour water into the pot so that it is slightly above the level of the pearl barley. But don't fill the whole pot. There should be some space left at the top. Otherwise, when baking, it may start to leak over the edge. Add some minced garlic to the pot. If necessary, you can add a little more salt.

    Cover the pot with a lid and place in a cold oven. Why in the cold? If a ceramic pot is placed in a hot place, it may crack due to a sudden temperature change. And so everything will heat up equally and gradually. Turn on the oven to 200 degrees. After 20 minutes, turn the heat down a little to 180 degrees. Leave for another 1 hour.

    When baking, use your oven as a guide. You can open the pot slightly and check the amount of water and the softness of the cereal.

Wonderful dish! I don’t know why most of our population don’t like pearl barley, maybe it’s connected with the army, with the kindergarten, where they didn’t really stand on ceremony with this dish - they boiled it in water and put it on a plate - eat it! Although, with a little salt at the table, I wouldn’t refuse to chew it, even without anything, I especially like the feeling of it on the tongue and teeth, I don’t know how to explain it differently, in general I like chewing it. And this recipe is just a fairy tale - in a pot, with roasted beef! mmm... Thank you very much for the recipe!
