Zebra butter cake with a complex pattern

Insanely delicious and easy to prepare cake! This cake was named “Zebra” for the original texture of the dough, consisting of alternating characteristic stripes of light and dark colors. Thanks to them, it looks very appetizing, attractive and unusual, especially in cross-section.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

Let's prepare the dough for our cake. Mix eggs with sugar in a deep bowl.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Using a mixer, beat them until white foam.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Without ceasing to beat, gradually add sifted flour, softened butter and sour cream (add soda to the sour cream first and stir well).

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

    The dough should be homogeneous.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Then we divide it into 2 equal parts. Add 2 tablespoons of flour to the first part, and 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder to the second. Mix until it reaches the consistency of thick sour cream, making sure there are no lumps.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Grease a baking dish (I have a diameter of 28 centimeters) with oil. Pour the dough into the center, one tablespoon at a time, alternating between two types.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

There is no need to mix the contents of the form.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

    Lay out all the dough.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees and place the mold with the dough in it for 30-40 minutes. If the top of the cake is baked and the middle is damp, then cover the pan with foil, reduce the temperature to 180 degrees and bake the cake until done.

Our beautiful cake is ready! Enjoy your tea!

Of course, I ate this delicious cake more than once, baked it several times, but that was a very long time ago. But I didn’t have such a beautiful drawing. In the photographs I saw how to lay out the dough in such a way that the zebra stripes were more distinct. Thanks to both the author of the recipe and the author of the photographs for the master class! This is where I was once again convinced that recipes with step-by-step photos contain more information and can more clearly show some points that cannot always be explained in words.
