Vol-au-vent made from puff pastry stuffed with mushrooms
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make vol-au-vents from puff pastry? Prepare all the necessary products. Use fresh or canned champignons, in both cases it turns out very tasty. Remove the finished puff pastry from the refrigerator.
STEP 2
Place a sheet of dough on the table, roll it out slightly if necessary. Use a special round notch to make circles of puff pastry. If there is no suitable shape, then use a glass, wine glass or small glass.
STEP 3
Cut out rings from half the circles using a mold or a glass with a smaller diameter.
STEP 4
This way you should have an equal number of circles and rings.
STEP 5
Wash the egg well, separate the white from the yolk, beat the white lightly. Place the circles on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Using a silicone brush, brush them with egg white.
STEP 6
Place the rings evenly on top and brush with egg white. Place the baking sheet in a preheated oven, bake at 200 degrees, “top-bottom” mode until the dough is browned. This will take about 15 minutes, depending on the capabilities of your oven.
STEP 7
At this time, prepare the filling. If you are using fresh champignons, wash and dry with paper towels. Cut the mushrooms into thin slices or small cubes, as you prefer. Peel and rinse the onion and garlic (if using). Chop them finely.
STEP 8
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and lightly fry the onion. Add the champignons and garlic, reduce the flame slightly and, stirring, fry everything until the mushrooms have an appetizing golden hue. It will take about 10 minutes, maybe a little less. Add salt to taste.
STEP 9
Add flour, stirring continuously, fry for a few seconds.
STEP 10
Add sour cream to the mushrooms, stir and cook until thickened.
STEP 11
If desired, at this stage you can add finely chopped dill or green young onions to the filling.
STEP 12
Remove the finished vol-au-vents from the oven.
STEP 13
Using a sharp thin knife, cut out circles inside the baked goods; this can be done without much difficulty.
STEP 14
Fill the vol-au-vents with mushroom filling.
STEP 15
Sprinkle the puff vol-au-vents with allspice or ground black pepper and garnish with herbs. Done, ready to serve!
