Verzere - Moldavian pies with cabbage without yeast

You can use any cabbage, including sauerkraut. Moldavian crispy, beautiful and tasty pies with young cabbage made from an unusual dough similar to puff pastry. In one astronomical hour you can get 15-16 small amazing hot pies. Due to their small size, they fly away faster than they bake. This is the only annoying minus. It is better to count on two baking sheets at once.

I have a special, warm relationship with Moldavian cuisine))) I adore it and consider it one of the best, Moldavian placindas, vertutas, serelia - baked goods cannot be tastier! But I’ve never tried homemade verzere from a Moldovan housewife, only store-bought ones, and, to tell the truth, they’re so-so. It is for this reason that when in a search engine I came across a recipe for “Verzere - Moldavian pies with cabbage without yeast,” I scrolled through it without looking. But not this time)) Now the search engine gave me a recipe for verzere when searching for Lenten baked goods. I prepared them exactly according to the recipe, but did not cover them with yolk. I made two types of filling - the first with cabbage, like the author, the second with apples and cinnamon. As a result, there was no limit to the delight! The results turned out to be very tasty, crispy, aromatic varzers! They are eaten instantly and leave you feeling full. It’s even somehow indecent to serve such delicious pastries on a Lenten table)) I recommend the recipe to everyone and I will cook it myself more than once! Thanks a lot!!

And here is a photo report: the dough is simple, but it worked for me... this time I rolled it out too thin and there was a lot of filling... I'll have to cook it again and again until it turns out like yours

for 320 grams of flour 125 ml of vegetable oil???????????? Isn't that too much butter for that amount of flour?

At first I had my doubts because of the amount of vegetable oil, like the author of the previous comment... But I took a chance and in the end it turned out to be an excellent elastic dough! Moreover, you can roll it out thinly without tearing it! It’s very tasty, you can stuff any filling into it, even sweet ones. Thanks to the author of the recipe
