STEP 1
How to marinate tomatoes with basil and garlic for the winter? Prepare all the products listed on the list. Choose tomatoes with thick skin; they hold their shape well and will not spoil the appearance of the workpiece. How much basil to take? If you like the intense taste of this herb, then use 3-4 sprigs per jar. I added 0.5 liters to each jar. two small branches of basil.
STEP 2
Wash the tomatoes and dry with paper towels. Cut each tomato in half and cut out the stem attachment points. Then cut each half into slices. Rinse the basil sprigs under running water. Peel the garlic and rinse in the same way.
STEP 3
Wash the jars with soda. Sterilize the container in any way that is convenient for you. Keep the lids in boiling water for about 5 minutes. Place a few peas of black or allspice on the bottom of each jar. Add a couple of cloves of garlic.

Add tomato slices.

Follow with a sprig of basil.
STEP 6
Fill the jars to the top with the remaining tomatoes and shake until everything fits compactly. Place another sprig of aromatic herbs on top.
STEP 7
Boil water in a saucepan. Pour boiling water over the tomatoes up to the neck, cover with lids and leave for 10 minutes. Pour the water from the jars back into the pan and bring to a boil. Fill the jars with boiling water again.
STEP 8
Again, after 10 minutes, drain the water into the pan. Add sugar, salt and citric acid. Once boiling, cook for about one minute. Taste the marinade and add the missing element (salt, sugar or acid).
STEP 9
Pour the boiling marinade into jars.
STEP 10
Close the jars with a special key and check for leaks. Turn the jars upside down and wrap them in a warm blanket. Leave until completely cool, and then put in a cellar or pantry for long-term storage.
STEP 11
Stunningly aromatic tomatoes with basil and garlic are ready!
