  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make squid in a frying pan in creamy sauce? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Green peas can be used either fresh or frozen. I have the second option. Remove frozen peas from the freezer 15 minutes before cooking to allow them to thaw slightly.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Peel the onion and finely chop it. To prevent the onion from stinging your eyes when slicing, rinse it and the knife with cold water.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Wash the celery stalks, dry and finely chop.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Melt a piece of butter in a frying pan. Read about how to choose the ideal frying pan, as well as how to choose the right vegetable oil in separate articles, links at the end of the recipe.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Add the onion and celery to the pan and fry for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are soft. The exact time depends on the frying pan, as well as the characteristics of your stove.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Add peas to the pan, stir and simmer with the lid closed for about 10 minutes.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Clean the squid from entrails and skin, and also remove the chord. I prefer to choose already cleaned squid, but still, it needs to be inspected for the presence of a chord.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Cut the squid lengthwise along one side and turn the carcass with the inside facing up.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Using a sharp knife, make transverse cuts diagonally, being careful not to cut through the carcass. The cutting step is half a centimeter.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Next, in the same way, make parallel, perpendicular cuts. As a result, you will get an even square mesh on the carcass.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Cut the squid into triangles. During heat treatment, due to this cutting, the squid meat will beautifully curl into so-called “bumps”.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Place the squid pieces evenly in the frying pan on top of the vegetables and simmer under the lid closed for literally one minute. Watching the timing is very important as the squid will cook quickly.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Wash and dry the parsley and dill and chop finely. Pour cream into the pan, add herbs, add salt and pepper to taste. Simmer the squid under a closed lid until the cream boils, then immediately remove the pan from the heat. Squid in creamy sauce is ready. Bon appetit!

I really liked the presentation! Light squid, light sauce is certainly a tasty dish, but it is always difficult to serve it beautifully and appetizingly. A little greenery and the original mesh on the squid changed everything - I want to look at the dish, cook it, and try it! A delicate pattern on the plate is like a beautiful and unobtrusive frame, but your gaze first falls on the food, and then you admire the dishes. Amazing !
