STEP 1
How to make a simple and inexpensive birthday salad? Prepare the products according to the list. Adjust the amount of green onions to taste. You can make your own mayonnaise.
STEP 2
Pour clean root vegetables into a saucepan with water and bring to a boil. Cook vegetables over moderate heat until tender. Check their readiness with a knife. If the root vegetables are soft and a knife pierces them easily, then the vegetables are ready. Remove the boiled potatoes and carrots from the water and cool completely. Peel the potatoes and grate them on a coarse grater.
STEP 3
Also peel the cooled carrots and chop them on a coarse grater.
STEP 4
Remove the cod liver from the jar and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil. Mash the liver with a fork into smaller pieces.
STEP 5
Boil the eggs hard. How to hard boil eggs? Pour water over the eggs, bring to a boil, cook over moderate heat for 7-8 minutes from the moment of boiling. Immediately pour boiled eggs with cold water so that they cool and the shells are better cleaned. Divide the cooled eggs into whites and yolks. Grate the whites on a coarse grater.
STEP 6
Cut the pickled cucumbers into thin strips. If desired, you can also chop them on a coarse grater.
STEP 7
You can serve the salad in a cooking ring or in a salad bowl of suitable size and shape. Place grated potatoes on the bottom and smooth out well. Apply mayonnaise.
STEP 8
Place cod liver in the next layer. This layer does not need to be lubricated.
STEP 9
Wash the green onions, dry them, and chop them finely. Sprinkle the liver layer evenly with green onions.
STEP 10
Then lay out the pickled cucumbers and smooth them out.
STEP 11
Spread a layer of pickled cucumbers with mayonnaise.
STEP 12
Place grated carrots and smooth. Apply mayonnaise.
STEP 13
Cover the carrot layer with grated egg whites and brush with mayonnaise.
STEP 14
Finish the salad with egg yolks. Grate them onto the salad on top. Place the salad in the refrigerator for a couple of hours to soak.
STEP 15
