  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make PP shawarma with chicken in pita bread? Prepare your food. Take fillet from the breast, it is less fatty. Instead of lettuce, you can use Chinese or white cabbage, but they will need to be chopped. The amount of vegetables will depend on their size. Wash and dry vegetables and herbs.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

You can either boil or bake chicken fillet for shawarma. Wash and dry the fillets before baking. Then rub it with a mixture of spices and salt. Take spices to your taste, I used paprika, pepper and salt.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Wrap the meat in foil and place in an oven-safe dish. Bake the chicken breast in the oven, preheated to 180°C, for 35-45 minutes, depending on the size of the piece.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Cool the finished meat slightly and cut into long strips. Meat baked in this way does not fall apart when cut and turns out very juicy.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Also cut the cucumber into long strips, approximately the same size as the chicken - then the shawarma will look neater.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Cut the tomato into the same pieces.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

For the sauce, mix sour cream, tomato sauce and mustard. Instead of sour cream, you can use natural yogurt. Use mustard to taste, I use sweet mustard.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Place a sheet of pita bread on the table. Spread the sauce on one edge.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Place lettuce leaves (or chopped cabbage) on top of the sauce. Place chopped meat and vegetables on top. Try to place the pieces so that they face the same direction, it will be more neat. Lightly salt the vegetables on top.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Tuck the edges of the pita bread and roll it into a roll, carefully tucking in the filling. Make shawarma from the second pita bread in the same way.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Fry the shawarma in a dry grill pan on each side until dark stripes form.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Serve shawarma to the table. For convenience, you can cut it in half. Bon appetit!

I'm not an expert on shawarma, I even tried it only once. But there were food leftover from the holiday in the refrigerator and I decided to make PP shawarma with chicken in pita bread. My pita bread was rectangular, it was convenient to put the filling on it. The chicken fillet was baked in advance, and when cooled it was easy to cut into cubes. It turns out that lettuce leaves can be replaced with cabbage, which is what I did. And instead of tomatoes I took strips of fresh pepper. My sauce turned out redder due to the addition of tomato paste. Placed the wrapped shawarma on a grill pan to allow stripes to appear. It turned out very tasty! I would have added more sauce, but otherwise the juicy vegetables go well with the spicy chicken. The top was crispy, I liked it). I will practice making homemade shawarma, it’s a very tasty dish.

Overall, I liked the recipe. I added onions and hot mustard (I like it spicier). I think next time I’ll also add Korean carrots. A couple of drops of sauce for juiciness with the tomatoes wouldn’t hurt either. I really enjoyed this chicken recipe, thank you! I will cook it separately with tomatoes and mushrooms under cheese, it will also turn out tasty and juicy
