A simple, but very successful and budget dish! Crumbly barley with frying and hearty stew in a frying pan. Of course, you need to tinker with pearl barley, but the result will exceed all expectations! Despite the simple ingredients in the composition, this dish greatly pleased both me and my family.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make pearl barley porridge with stew in a frying pan? Place the pearl barley in a colander and rinse thoroughly under running water. Proper rinsing from pearl barley should tend to be transparent.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Fill the pearl barley with filtered drinking water and leave for at least an hour at room temperature. This will reduce the cooking time of the cereal in the future.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

My pearl barley soaked even longer than this. I can say that if you soak the cereal overnight, you will only have to cook it for about fifteen minutes. And this is as much as 60% less time for preparing a dish!

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Place the barley in a saucepan of a suitable size and fill it with filtered water three centimeters above the level of the cereal. For me it's about 800 milliliters. Cook the pearl barley over medium heat until done. This may take different times, as all slabs have their own individual characteristics.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

When the water boils, salt it. If you soaked the cereal for an hour, you need to cook it for about forty minutes. Stir the cereal periodically to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Try one grain, if it is soft, then you can remove the pearl barley from the heat. Place the pearl barley in a colander and rinse with cold filtered water. It's the same story here as with boiled rice. When washed, pearl barley also becomes crumbly and does not stick together in the future.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Let's start preparing the frying. Wash the carrots under running water and peel the skins. Finely chop the carrots.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Peel the onion and also finely chop it. Finely chopping these vegetables is necessary so that the frying has time to reach readiness.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Heat a non-stick frying pan with low sides over high heat. Pour in sunflower oil and heat it thoroughly. Reduce heat to medium. Add carrots and onions to fry until soft. This will take about five minutes. Stir the vegetables periodically to prevent them from burning.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Remove the stew from the jar and sort it out. Nowadays it is difficult to find a 100 percent ideal stew, even an expensive one, that does not contain unnecessary elements: fat and connective tissue. You need to get rid of them, as well as the broth and bay leaf, if any. We only need clean meat.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Add the stew to the finished roast and simmer everything together for a couple of minutes.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

All that remains is to add pearl barley to the pan, stir everything until smooth and heat the dish for another five to seven minutes. Then try the dish. Perhaps it needs to be salted to taste. Ready!

A hearty everyday dish. It’s also delicious to bake pearl barley with meat in pots in the oven. Incredibly delicious!

It seems to me that in our family they can eat anything with stew) Therefore, I had no doubt that we would like pearl barley porridge with stew in a frying pan. I followed all the proportions according to the recipe. I soaked the pearl barley for three hours, during which time it noticeably swollen. Boiled for at least an hour. After that, I decided to rinse it in cold water to wash off the gluten. The grains have become crumbly, perfect for a side dish. But I have a different task) For the second part of the dish, I fried onions and carrots, then added pieces of stewed pork. But in our family everyone loves the broth from this stew, so I still added “jelly” to the frying pan. And then mixed it with pearl barley and added spices. I took paprika, dried dill and a mixture of ground peppers. Great dish! Tasty, satisfying, delicate texture. We really liked it and ate it quickly)

Barley with stew in a frying pan is such a cool dish - there are no words for it! These are two of my favorite foods in one - just a fairy tale! Only here is a mystery - where can I get such a stew as it once was. Now it's just terrible in stores. Thank you very much for the recipe!

A very simple recipe. You don't need to do anything special. Only I cook pearl barley in a slow cooker. I'll definitely have to try it.
