Pearl barley porridge on water

Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1

How to cook pearl barley porridge in water in a saucepan? Prepare all the necessary products. Take high-quality pearl barley from a reliable manufacturer. It’s even better if it’s barley - an improved variety of pearl barley. Butter is suitable with a fat content of at least 82.5%.
STEP 2

Check the cereal for larvae, debris and damaged grains. Rinse well. To make the cereal crumbly, you need to rinse it until the water is completely clear. Barley takes quite a long time to cook, but in order to speed up the cooking process, you can soak the barley for several hours in cold water. Convenient to soak overnight. Then drain the water in which the cereal was soaked.
STEP 3

Place the cereal in a cooking pot. I recommend using dishes with a thick bottom to prevent anything from burning.
STEP 4

Fill with water. I do not recommend using tap water. Filtered or bottled water is best. Fill with water so that it is 2 cm above the grain level.
STEP 5

Salt the water.
STEP 6

Bring to a boil over medium heat. Be sure to skim off the foam.
STEP 7

Then reduce the heat to low and cover the container in which the porridge is cooked with a lid. Cook the cereal until cooked through for about 1.5 hours. But if you pre-soaked it, the cooking time can be reduced to 30-40 minutes.
STEP 8

The water should completely evaporate, and the pearl barley should turn out crumbly, grain by grain.
STEP 9

Add the butter to the porridge, wait until it melts, stir, cover with a lid and let it brew for another 10 minutes. For a lean version, pour the porridge with any vegetable oil: olive sunflower or any other. I like sunflower oil with flavor the most. Unrefined!
STEP 10

Serve the porridge immediately while it is hot. Bon appetit!
