We cut off the head and tail of the fish and clean the belly. Fill the fish with cold water, add onions (2 pcs.), carrots, bay leaves, wine, salt, add thyme and allspice if desired. Bring to a boil without a lid, cook for 1-2 minutes (if the fish is large, if the fish is small, turn it off immediately), turn it off, cover with a lid and let it brew for 15 minutes.
STEP 3
Remove the fish from the broth, let it cool slightly and remove skin and bones.
STEP 4
Mash the fish with a fork (namely a fork, not a blender).
STEP 5
Add finely chopped onion (1 piece), mustard and sour cream. Mix thoroughly.
STEP 6
If the mixture is too thick, add a few tablespoons of fish broth.
STEP 7
Serve on toast or in baskets. Bon appetit!

Lovely croutons! Mackerel is a specific fish and is very suitable for such a snack, I adore it so much))) And with sour cream, onions and mustard, the spicy taste of the mass will harmonize perfectly with croutons, you can’t imagine anything better!

Oh, what a wonderful recipe! I love mackerel and often cook pork rillette, but here you can combine these two delicacies in one dish! It’s a pity that I saw the recipe too late, I would definitely prepare it for my holiday table tomorrow
