STEP 1

How to bake mackerel in the microwave in 5 minutes? Prepare your food. Take a large onion or two small ones. When choosing mackerel, make sure that the carcass is undamaged and there is not too much ice. It is better to buy fish with the head, because... Often it is cut off so that no signs of rotting are visible. If the fish is small, take 2 for this amount of food. Refer to the weight indicated in the recipe. Any unscented oil will do.
STEP 2

Prepare the mackerel. You don’t have to defrost it in advance, but take it out of the freezer before starting cooking. Slightly frozen fish are easier to clean. Clean it from the insides, remove the head and fins, rinse well in running water. Be sure to remove the dark film from the belly, it gives the fish bitterness.
STEP 3

Dry the carcass by dabbing with paper towels. Cut the mackerel into 5-6 portions 2-3 cm wide.
STEP 4

Salt and pepper the fish, season with spices and sprinkle with lemon juice. If you use a prepared spice mixture, be aware that it may contain salt. Then you don’t have to salt the fish. Otherwise, the taste of the finished dish will be spoiled.
STEP 5

To prepare mackerel, take special dishes that can be used in the microwave. I have this ceramic deep plate. Grease the bottom and walls with vegetable oil. Peel and rinse the onion. Cut the onion into thin rings. In this form, it will cook faster, retain its shape and remain juicy. Place chopped onion on the bottom, leave a few (6-7 pieces) rings.
STEP 6

Distribute the mackerel pieces evenly on top of the onion. To ensure that the pieces of fish are saturated with the aroma of onions and do not stick to each other during the cooking process, place onion rings between them. Microwave for 5 minutes at 800 W. Cooking times may vary depending on the capabilities of your microwave. Therefore, start checking your readiness by appearance. The fish should become whiter when cut.
