STEP 1

How to make pasta with sour cream and cheese in a frying pan? Very simple and fast! To get started, prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. To make the sauce a rich yellow color, I used melted cheddar in slices. Cheddar melts very well in any form and forms a homogeneous consistency. You can replace it with regular hard cheddar or another cheese that melts equally well.
STEP 2

You can use any pasta - horns, bows, shells, etc. I use drills (cavatappi), the main thing is that they are made from durum wheat and of good quality.
STEP 3

If you have large pieces of mozzarella, cut it finer. It is not necessary to chop the mozzarella into small balls. You don’t have to add the mozzarella at all.
STEP 4

If you have cheese in slices, cut it into squares. If the cheese is hard, grate it on a coarse grater.
STEP 5

Melt the butter in a deep frying pan over medium heat. If you don't have one, you can cook the sauce in a heavy-bottomed saucepan.
STEP 6

Add flour and heat, stirring, 1-2 minutes. The flour should gather into lumps.
STEP 7

While preparing the sauce, cook the pasta in plenty of salted water until al dente (1 minute less than package directions).
STEP 8

Pour the milk into the pan and stir until the flour has dissolved and the mixture thickens. It is most convenient to stir with a silicone whisk so as not to damage the bottom of the pan. If this is not the case, a wooden or silicone spatula will do.
STEP 9

Add cheddar, mozzarella and sour cream.
STEP 10

Simmer, stirring, until all the cheese has melted and the mixture becomes homogeneous.
STEP 11

Place the pasta in a colander and let all the water drain.
STEP 12

Add pasta to the cheese sauce and mix thoroughly. If necessary, you can add salt to the dish to taste. My sauce was already quite salty, so I didn’t add more salt.
STEP 13

Serve the finished pasta in cheese sauce immediately, sprinkled with chopped herbs and, if desired, garnished with cherry tomatoes. Bon appetit!
