  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to cook lentil porridge? Prepare your food. This recipe is designed for red lentils - they boil faster and better, unlike other varieties (green or yellow). Use filtered or bottled water - tap water can give the dish an unpleasant aftertaste. How to choose a pan for cooking porridge, read the article at the end of this recipe.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Sort the lentils as needed, removing foreign grains and debris. Pour the lentils into a saucepan with a thick bottom - in such a bowl the porridge will not burn and will cook evenly. Rinse the grains thoroughly in cool water, changing the water several times, until transparent.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Pour clean cold water over the lentils in a ratio of one to two - one part legumes to two parts liquid.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Place the saucepan over medium heat. Wait until the water boils and white foam appears on the surface. Remove it with a spoon or slotted spoon. Add salt and stir.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Turn the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid and leave the porridge to cook for 10-15 minutes. Do not cover the lid completely - the lentils may escape during cooking and stain your stove. Stir the porridge from time to time. If the water boils away and the grains are not ready yet, add a little more hot water. Precisely hot, so that time is not wasted heating it in a saucepan.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Try the porridge - if the lentils are soft, then they are ready. Turn off the heat, cover the saucepan with a lid and leave to stand for another 10 minutes. During this time, the grains will finally reach readiness. My red lentil porridge became almost puree during this time.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Serve simple lentil porridge in water with butter, butter or vegetable oil. Bon appetit!

Today I made lentil porridge for lunch. I like red lentils the most, but I mostly cook them with vegetables, but then I saw a recipe for red lentil porridge without any additions and decided to cook it. It’s done very quickly, which is a big plus. I didn’t have time to boil it too much and the porridge turned out very tasty, even the children appreciated it. Thanks for the recipe!

I was looking for something delicious to make from lentils and found a simple recipe for lentil porridge. I washed the lentils several times until the water ran clear. Filled it with clean water and set it to cook. I skimmed off the foam, added salt and cooked until done, stirring occasionally. The porridge turned out very tasty. And besides, it is healthy and satisfying. Thanks katushafin for the simple and delicious recipe!
