Lenten cake in the oven

Ruddy and aromatic - the best pastry to go with a cup of coffee! Lenten cake in the oven tastes very much like Honey cake. It turns out fluffy, soft and very tasty. This cupcake goes great with peanut butter. It is better to bake two cupcakes using these ingredients in two different forms.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to bake a Lenten cake in the oven? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Take refined, odorless vegetable oil. Turn on the oven to 160 degrees in advance. Pour warm filtered water into a deep bowl. Pour sunflower oil into a bowl, add sugar and add a pinch of salt. Salt will enhance the flavor of the finished cake.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Pour liquid honey into a bowl. If you have candied honey, then you need to melt it in a water bath. To do this, take two ladles, one slightly larger than the other. Place honey in the smaller one, and pour water into the larger one to about a third or two of the total volume. Then place the ladles one inside the other and heat over medium heat, stirring the honey constantly. It will not burn, it will just become liquid faster when stirred.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Sift premium wheat flour in parts directly into the bowl. This will help the cake rise better. Whisk the dough until smooth. Depending on the quality of flour, you may need a little more or a little less. The reference point is the consistency of the dough. It should be approximately the same as medium-fat sour cream. You can read more about flour and its properties in a separate article, link at the end of the recipe.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

This is what my dough looks like - it is quite thick and keeps a groove from the whisk. Add soda and lemon juice to the dough and immediately stir with a whisk. You need to stir throughout the entire volume of the dough, since this determines whether the cake will rise evenly or not. Read about all the nuances of working with soda in a separate article, link at the end of the recipe

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Take two molds and grease the bottom with sunflower oil. Divide the dough in half and pour into molds up to half the height. Bake the cupcakes in an oven preheated to 160 degrees for about 30 minutes. The exact time depends on your oven. You can learn about the operating features of ovens by reading a separate article, link at the end of the recipe. You can check the readiness with a toothpick - insert it into the middle of the cupcake and immediately remove it. If it is dry, then the cake is ready.

I replaced the soda with baking powder, but also 1.5 tsp, so I have no aftertaste. I baked the Lenten cake in the oven for 10 minutes longer, ultimately 40 minutes at 160C. The cake was slightly moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. Quite dense. Moderately sweet, with a slight taste of honey.
