  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make rolled oatmeal cutlets in a frying pan? Prepare all the necessary ingredients according to the list. You can use ordinary Hercules for this dish; instant oatmeal will not work. Instead of eggs, we will use potatoes as a binding component. To make the cutlets less high in calories, you don’t have to use breading for them.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Rinse the cereal thoroughly and pour boiling water over it, leave it for half an hour until the cereal swells well. After a while, drain the water from the bowl with the cereal and squeeze it out, but you don’t need to squeeze out all the liquid from the oatmeal; you want the minced meat to be wet.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Wash the potatoes in running water with a brush, peel and rinse. Cut the vegetable into large pieces.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

For a pleasant aroma and taste, add garlic to the ingredients. Peel the garlic cloves.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Peel the onions and cut into large pieces with a knife.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Place potatoes, garlic, onions in a blender bowl and chop. If you don’t have a blender, you can grind the vegetables in a meat grinder.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Combine the ingredients in one bowl: vegetables and oatmeal. Add spices: salt and ground black pepper to taste. Mix the mass well. If you wish, you can add any spices to your taste.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

If the cutlets are fried without breading, then the minced meat should be placed in the pan with a spoon. But to make the cutlets beautiful and smooth, with a crispy golden brown crust, cutlet blanks can be rolled in flour or breadcrumbs. With your hands moistened with cold water, form a cutlet from the oat mixture, roll them on all sides in breading.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan, heat it well, place the cutlets on the heated oil. Fry the cutlets on both sides until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side, over medium heat.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Then cover the pan with a lid and keep the cutlets on the fire for another 5 minutes so that they are well baked inside and become fluffy. Remove the cutlets from the pan, if they seem to have absorbed a lot of oil, then place them on a paper napkin so that the excess oil is absorbed into the paper. Transfer the cutlets to a plate and serve. It’s good to complement them with sour cream or any sauce, as well as herbs, vegetables or salad. Bon appetit!

I was looking for Lenten recipes on the site so that I could cook something for my husband for a second meal. I found this recipe for lean rolled oatmeal cutlets, I liked that the cutlets are made not from oatmeal alone, but with the addition of potatoes. I read the comments and decided to keep the proportions of water and oatmeal. I don’t know how it is for anyone, but my very ordinary oatmeal absorbed all the water and even became a little dry) But I took two potatoes. Then the crazy idea came to mind to grind the soaked oatmeal along with the potatoes. The mass became more liquid than it was at the beginning. And there are more potatoes than necessary) In general, I spooned out the minced meat. If I hadn’t ground the oatmeal, it would have been entirely possible to make the cutlets by hand. But the shape is not as important as the taste, especially since I ended up with quite nice ruddy pancake cutlets. With potatoes the taste is much better and the texture is more tender. There wasn’t a lot of garlic at all, I didn’t notice any particular spiciness, but the aroma during frying was magnificent) The cutlets are tasty, unusual and quick to prepare. My husband appreciated it and I liked it too.

A familiar recipe, when I cooked almost the same cutlets from rolled oats, but added a bouillon cube. With onions and garlic they acquired a new, much more interesting taste for me. Although I immediately doubted whether it was too much? Two glasses of water per glass of cereal is a LOT. I only had enough for pancakes; I had to add rolled oats to get a denser consistency; there was no question of “moulding” - I just spooned it onto the frying pan. But overall - tasty, spicy and unusual!

I agree that two glasses of water is too much, I added one and a half and that was too much. The cutlets turn out tasty and spicy. I liked the cold ones better.
