    Peel the onion and cut into 4 parts. Wash the apples, peel them, cut them into 4 parts and cut out the core. Grind the onions and apples in a meat grinder or blender into a paste. If you want to make ketchup spicier, you can add chili pepper by chopping it along with onions and apples.

    Place the tomato puree and apple-onion pulp into a convenient and suitable-sized pan and stir. Place the pan over moderate heat. As soon as the mixture boils, add salt, sugar, vinegar, cinnamon, cloves and ground pepper.

    Mix everything thoroughly and cook the ketchup to the desired thickness with regular stirring. This process took me two hours. The output is 1 liter of ready-made ketchup. While the ketchup is preparing, sterilize the jars and their lids in a way convenient for you. Pour the prepared hot ketchup into sterilized jars of the required size and seal with sterilized lids. Turn hot jars upside down, cover with a blanket and let cool completely.

I prepare a lot of ketchup and according to different recipes; the children prefer a milder taste, while my husband and I prefer a spicier taste. I usually chop all the vegetables, boil them, and then strain them through a sieve. And in this recipe I liked the method of preparation from juice. I was just squeezing the juice out of tomatoes and saving it for ketchup. I liked the method, although the boiling process is not fast. But that’s normal) I didn’t add cinnamon, I just don’t like it. And instead of simple vinegar I added natural apple cider vinegar. The amount of sugar was just right for my taste, especially since the tomatoes were sour. Overall, after boiling and adding spices and vinegar, the taste of ketchup became balanced and pleasant. Sweet and sour with a hint of spice. I boiled it down to the consistency of a thick puree. We love ketchup with different dishes, it seems to me that this option is more suitable for meat and pasta) A tasty and healthy sauce, I recommend it to everyone. Thanks for the recipe.

I want to say a huge thank you to the author for the recipe! The most delicious ketchup on this site. Frankly, I haven’t tried all of them, but only three, but I’m sure that for me this is the best recipe for the sweetness and sourness of ketchups. For testing, I only made a kilogram of tomato, and then I tasted it cold and decided that tomorrow I’ll get up at the stove again and make about three kilograms)))) It seems like you shouldn’t take sweet apples, it’s better to use local seasonal ones (I have Kuban ones). In terms of gramming, everything turned out well, only I added less hot pepper, we love sweetish tastes. Thanks for the ketchup, now I’ll take a closer look at the author for his other recipes! I definitely recommend ketchup to other housewives, do it, you won’t regret it.

Anait, I will be very glad if you like the ketchup. In Ukraine we are now in the midst of the tomato season, and it’s simply a sin not to take advantage and not prepare something tasty, and most importantly natural.
