  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make a classic Mimosa salad without cheese? Prepare your food. Pre-boil vegetables and eggs and cool. Open the canned food and place the fish in a bowl along with the liquid. In addition to sardines, you can also take other canned fish - pink salmon, tuna, mackerel. Fish is suitable both in oil and in its own juice.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Peel the onion and cut into small cubes. I took purple onions - they are sweeter and juicier, but you can cook with regular white ones.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place the onion in a bowl and pour boiling water over it - this way you will remove the bitterness from it. Leave the onions to stand in the water for 10 minutes.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Then place the onion in a sieve and rinse it with cold water.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

How to cook vegetables for salad? Wash the tubers well with a brush under running water and place them in a saucepan. Fill with clean cold water and cook over medium heat. After boiling, cook the potatoes and carrots for about 30 minutes. The exact time will depend on the size of the vegetables. Check readiness with a knife - it should easily pierce the fruit. Cool the boiled vegetables and peel them. Grate the potatoes on a coarse grater.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Grate the carrots on a medium grater - this will make the salad more tender.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Divide the peeled eggs into yolks and whites; set aside the yolks to decorate the top of the salad. Also grate the whites on a medium grater.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Mash the sardine with a fork until smooth. Remove large bones.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Start assembling the lettuce. Traditionally, Mimosa is prepared in layers. You can serve it in a regular salad bowl or use a cooking ring like I did. Place grated potatoes as the first layer. Compact the layer. If you have a sardine in its own juice, then coat the potato layer with mayonnaise. I have sardines in oil, so I didn’t smear the potatoes.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Place the sardine on the potatoes and sprinkle the fish with onions on top.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Mix carrots in a separate bowl with half the mayonnaise. Lay it out in the next layer and tamp it down.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Place the grated whites on top of the carrots; I salted this layer. Lubricate it with the remaining mayonnaise. You can also mix the whites with mayonnaise, like carrots.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Grate the reserved yolks on top using a fine grater. Place the salad in the refrigerator for at least an hour to soak.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

Then remove the salad from the ring and decorate the top as desired. Mimosa salad without cheese and butter with canned food is ready, serve. Bon appetit!

I had a jar of sardines in oil and I prepared a classic mimosa salad without cheese according to this recipe. The recipe is budget, from always available products. Mashed the sardines with a fork, draining half the oil. I poured boiling water over the onion so that it wouldn’t be bitter, but the author’s recommendations. I cooked the vegetables in advance. I grated the potatoes coarsely, and the carrots, whites and yolks on a grater with medium holes. I laid the salad in layers, greasing it with mayonnaise, in a ring from a springform pan with a diameter of 22 cm. Since I had sardines in oil, I also did not grease the potato layer with mayonnaise. I mixed up some of the layers a little and ended up with whites on top), but the taste didn’t suffer from this. Indeed, with carrots grated on a medium grater, the salad becomes more tender. The salad turns out incredibly soft, juicy, tender, aromatic and very tasty. It turned out really airy. You eat it, and it’s like a cloud of fish in your mouth))) Great recipe! I liked this version of mimosa salad the most. I will cook it again and again and I advise everyone to try it! Many thanks to the author!!!

My husband and I wanted fish salad for dinner. On the website I found a recipe for my favorite classic Mimosa salad without cheese. I love this particular combination! I boiled the eggs and vegetables in advance, cooled them, and peeled them before assembling the salad. I grated everything on a medium grater so that the consistency of the salad was tender and homogeneous. Immediately mixed potatoes and carrots with mayonnaise. The sardines were in their own juice, but quite fatty. Therefore, I did not lubricate this layer with mayonnaise. Finely chop the red onion and rinse with cold water. For me this is enough, this onion itself is not very bitter. It is also sweeter, softer and juicier than usual. I assembled the salad in a ring with a diameter of 16 cm. I only coated the whites with mayonnaise. It seems to me that all the layers are in place. Fish and onions soak up the potatoes, and on top are juicy carrots and a delicate layer of eggs. Everything is perfectly delicious! Thanks for the recipe!
