  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

    Prepare ingredients for curd balls.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

I used store-bought cottage cheese, so I simply mashed the cottage cheese with a fork (if you have homemade cottage cheese, rub it through a sieve). Add sugar.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Beat in the eggs (you can replace the quail eggs with two chicken yolks).

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

    Add coconut flakes

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

    and starch.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

    Stir.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Roll balls of the same size from the resulting curd mass. Cover the cake pan with parchment and grease it with butter. Place the curd balls evenly in the pan.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Make the dough. Separate the egg yolks from the whites.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Set aside the whites. Add half the sugar to the yolks.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Beat with a mixer until foam forms and add vanillin. Melt the chocolate in a way convenient for you (steamed, in the microwave), cool slightly. Add to the yolks.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

    Stir.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Add the remaining sugar to the whites.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Beat with a mixer until foam forms.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

Mix both masses and mix gently.

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

Add cocoa, sifted flour, salt and baking powder.

  16. STEP 16

    STEP 16

    Stir. The dough is ready.

  17. STEP 17

    STEP 17

Pour the finished dough into the mold on top of the curd balls.

  18. STEP 18

    STEP 18

Place in a preheated oven and cook for 40 minutes at 180 degrees. Remove the finished cake from the oven and cool in the pan.

  19. STEP 19

    STEP 19

Then remove the cake from the pan.

  20. STEP 20

    STEP 20

    Cut into portions.

This is a very delicious pie!!! Making a chocolate cake with curd balls is not at all difficult if you first make the balls, mix the dry ingredients in advance and melt the chocolate. I used dark cocoa powder with a pronounced chocolate bitterness. I used homemade cottage cheese, which was very fatty, so the balls didn’t hold their round shape very well (but I think the taste benefited from the homemade one). I replaced the quail eggs with two yolks, as the author advises, so when cut, the balls are yellowish in color and not pure white. I don’t like very crumbly pies, so I added only one tablespoon of starch (the second spoon was replaced with flour). Since everyone’s spoons are different (and the heap on the spoon is also different), to be on the safe side, I combined all the dry ingredients in a bowl, placed the bowl on the scales and brought the total amount of dry ingredients to 110 g, that is, I added the missing amount of flour (I came up with 110 g On my own, I estimated the approximate amount of flour for 4 eggs, knowing my flour, shape and oven). I baked it in a tin with a diameter of 21 cm for about 45 minutes until a toothpick was dry (despite the fact that the surface of the cake was springy, the toothpick came out with the remains of the dough several times). Decorated with melted chocolate. And how delicious it turned out! The combination of coconut and dark chocolate is incomparable! I didn't even add vanilla. I will definitely make this again! Thanks for the recipe!
