Caramelized Apple Pie
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1

How to bake caramelized apple pie? Prepare all the necessary products. For apple pies, sour apples with thick skin are suitable. It’s great if you find Antonovka or Bogatyr. I have last year’s Antonovka, which is perfectly preserved. Turn on the oven to 180 degrees in advance.
STEP 2

How to caramelize apples for pie? Very simple. Cut one apple into slices about 5 mm thick.
STEP 3

Melt the butter in a non-stick frying pan.
STEP 4

Place the apple slices in the pan and cook over medium heat until golden brown on one side first, about 5-7 minutes. Then carefully turn each slice over and fry for another 5 minutes.
STEP 5

Sprinkle apples with 2 tbsp. spoons of sugar. Reduce heat and wait until the sugar dissolves.
STEP 6

Rotate the pan until each wedge is coated with caramel. The apples will become almost transparent, but will keep their shape perfectly.
STEP 7

In a mixing bowl, combine milk, eggs, salt and beat. It is best to use a whisk for this purpose; a mixer will not work.
STEP 8

Add the remaining sugar and beat again. If you love spicy baked goods, now is the time to add aromatic spices to the pie. Cinnamon, vanilla, cloves and nutmeg are great.
STEP 9

Sift the flour. I recommend not to neglect this process. Thanks to sifting, the finished baked goods are more fluffy and airy.
STEP 10

Stir everything well. The dough turns out quite liquid.
STEP 11

Also cut the remaining apples into thin slices. The peel does not need to be peeled.
STEP 12

Place the apple into the dough and mix everything well.
STEP 13

Prepare a heatproof dish. If your pan is non-stick or silicone, you don’t have to grease it with oil. If the form is ordinary, then grease it with any vegetable oil. STEP 14

Arrange caramel apples on top nicely. To prevent the top of the apples from burning, cover the top of the pie with foil. Bake the pie in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for about 20 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake the pie for about 20 minutes more. The exact time depends on your oven.
