Bulgur with pumpkin
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make bulgur with pumpkin? Prepare all the products indicated in the recipe. You can use any pumpkin. I usually cook bulgur from Hokkaido, it has a sweet taste and goes well with cereal.
STEP 2
Peel the onions, carrots and garlic. Cut the pumpkin in half, peel the thick skin, remove the soft core and seeds. Rinse all vegetables and dry with napkins to remove excess moisture.
STEP 3
Chop the onion, carrots and garlic into small cubes. The method of cutting vegetables can be any at your discretion, but keep in mind that the appearance and taste of the finished dish may change as a result.
STEP 4
Heat a small amount of refined vegetable oil in a frying pan. Send the vegetables to fry. Cook over high heat, stirring occasionally, until the onion is translucent. It took me about 2-3 minutes.
STEP 5
Rinse the bulgur in cold water. Cut the pumpkin into small pieces.
STEP 6
Add pumpkin and cereal to the pan. Salt to taste, and also add your favorite spices. I used a pinch of dried Italian herbs, a little nutmeg and allspice. If you use ready-made spice mixtures, be sure to read the ingredients on the package. Often such mixtures already contain salt, take this into account, otherwise you risk oversalting the dish
STEP 7
Mix everything thoroughly. Add water. How much water do you need to take? Usually it is recommended to use one and a half to two parts of water for one part of cereal. Those. For one glass of cereal, take 1.5-2 glasses of water. I usually take 1.5 parts of liquid and the cereal has time to fully cook.
STEP 8
After boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan with a lid and cook for about 15-20 minutes. Sprinkle the finished dish with finely chopped herbs. Dill, green young onions or parsley work well.
STEP 9
Delicious hot or cold.
